Gus Malzahn Big Game in 2017 UGA

7 years 5 months ago #76500 by Buc
Gus Malzahn . . . .

Gus understands this . . . . As long as he is in the West side of the SEC, it is a bit like Georgia Tech winning an occasional game against the State of Georgia Team. Yep, UGA. Do not have to rely on Vegas odds to predict the "overall".

Auburn would not have a team that could compete in the SEC if they could not recruit the State of Georgia. Alabama is a lost issue when it comes to recruiting for Auburn. Several times I have referred to Auburn as UGA #2.

Think about this . . . . Pat Dye knows that Auburn moving to the East Side of the SEC stands a good chance of improving "their" recruiting in the Peach State. FACT.

Can't beat Alabama, find another "path". Turn "tail" and find a "different route".

Gus is on a "short leash", for damn sure. UGA sends the Auburn faithful home early again in 2017, on their turf, Gus is "DONE".

Head Coach Kirby Smart, time to step up. Excuses for your inaugural 2016 will not be accepted with the talent level that "you" have in Athens.

Still have questions about some of the folks running the offense, calling the plays.

This old dawg believes that the incoming talent along with the talent in Athens for more than one year will "tell us" a lot about "our coaching".

There are many in Athens at the beginning of 2017 that 90% of D1 College Teams would love to have.

Cannot issue a pass for Smart and Company for 2017. Too much talent.

Good Day :)

Agree Buc... talent that we will field in 2017 while young in some positions...we have experience to

Buy growing time for pups.....

Progress lies squarely on our coaches....honestly believe that they are aware that patience is thin

And productive results is expected..... HC is not spinning coach speak about waiting until next year

Refreshing..........

Moving along to Muschamp and other folks that recruit Georgia throughout the year. Never stops.

For a long time it has been known among some that UGA needed to get "their/our" game plan in order. Have heard a lot of "lip service" over many years about trying to keep Georgia talent inside our borders. At some point we will have to win games that reflect a "change".

Is Kirby Smart able to do what those before him have not been able to accomplish . . . . don't know. Will know in the not too distant future.

Many times folks in the real world want the same job, comes down to who and why a certain person(s) fill those slots.

Now is not a time to relax, we have been through this/that before. It is not about the media "clicks", they do not participate on the playing field. Their playing field is off bounds to most of us. Why? Many times the answer is the same answer that has played out in the business world . . . . comes down to who you know.

Saban, meyer and others can pull top athletes out of the State of Georgia . . . . Why? Because they win games that matter. Matter meaning almost all of the teams on their schedules.

Notre Dame is a HUGE GAME Kirby. Having checked their recruiting efforts for the last few years, do not think we have a "TALENT EXCUSE".

Read where some say, do not look past our opener. If I cannot do that, I have a serious problem with our coaching staff . . . . and those that sit "upstairs".

UGA has a "Boat Load" of talented players now. This group of athletes should be able to play with 99% of the top teams in D1 Football. Notre Dame is not one I refer to in the top 99%. They have athletes, they also have a head coach that will probably lose his job if UGA leaves with a "W".

Good Day :)

EDIT . . . . One of my concerns goes something like this . . . .

Muschamp is a defensive football coach. Has proven that at more than one University. Smart is a defensive football coach, has proven that at Alabama over a long period of time.

Both of these "friends" have had problems on the offensive side of the ball. Muschamp replaced by an offensive head coach, team does well. New offensive coach actually did well with the players that Muschamp recruited and taught the college game. gators won games with a very good defense, not offense.

Have concerns that we might be seeing the same "game plan" in the previous paragraph. Really hard for me to move away from Chubb and Michel taking their thoughts to our offensive coordinator. Along with that, brought a coach in from Wisconsin, often mentioned as a quarterback coach. Don't know, do know, will watch UGA Football closely in 2017.

I think about UGA Football a lot, one would never know . . . . ;)

Go Dawgs, Coach Them Up!! Never a stronger statement made. As one of the more open minded board members has said . . . . often . . . . NO EXCUSES.

ogredawg, I do have some of the same thoughts that you mentioned early on.

Many have listened to the podcast below. Listened to the first 7 & 1/2 minutes, seems to bear out what you said at the beginning of 2017 ogredawg. Lots of folks believe the defense will be the force for 2017. I hope so. Add to that, the talent that I know will suit up on the offensive side of the ball, leads me to this my friend.

Why is it that Kirby seems to "more often than not" get into defensive talk? Saying that, goes along with what I think I have said previously along with a few others . . . .

Many of us have been through defense good, offense ok. Offense good, defense ok. That says to me that at best 10 wins will be reached, "any year".

If our coaching staff had been on top of "their game" . . . . "What happened in 2016"? Willing to say this . . . . Smart had a short amount of time for his release from Tuscaloosa. Appreciate the fact that he hit the trail without a "slumber period".

What about the names that "I" see on both sides of the ball? Can FANS be expected to continue on the same path that "we" have followed for x number of years?

Player Talent is One Thing . . . . Nick Saban has proven that it also takes Coaching Talent.

Do we (UGA) have that? You are spot on with your 2017 post(s) ogredawg. With you on defense . . . . what about utilizing offensive talent that has to be living and playing in Athens? Everyone of these young talents "want more". Have reservations about and have said this before . . . . the coaching staff.

Like seeing the latest hire, that is what Clemson and others have done to keep young men home.

Coaching is a well paid position. The FANS expect more than the McGarity's and Mahogany Row are willing to face up to.

I think about this . . . . often . . . . FANS of UGA Football are and have been faced with "REBUILDING", year after year.

Coach Smart, happy about the linebackers on our defense. What about the other side? Just asking.

Been mulling this for awhile

imho we maybe making to much of this offense defense minded coaches

Greg Maddox is a hall member pitcher..... his success was rooted in his knowledge of hitting and

How to avoid hitting strengths.... to be successful as an OC or DC you need to understand the workings and finer points of both...... logical Spock...

If asked.... NE's. ....HC....knows football side to side.... just say'n
