Thinking over the past years, I became increasingly dissatisfied/angry with what I believed to be a lack of "commitment" from the previous head coach.
Since then, the previous head coach has stated publicly that he was going to change his way of coaching at his new job. OK, good for him, I guess.
Getting past that, remember when recruiting was hot and heavy, and many of us would be excited to get one, two or three young players that without a doubt could play in the SEC. Past that, we seemed to be slipping, not gaining on others in our conference. Believe that to be a true statement.
Moving forward, can honestly say that "I" have never been as excited as "I" am now with the recruiting efforts and the responses from the recruits because of the coaches efforts.
When I hear "noise" about a committed recruit, actually two committed recruits saying that we have "several" committed that have yet to step forward, gets my attention. Different numbers, but somewhere around seven(7) that the two think are going to wear the Red and Black, times have changed.
Not sure what more could be asked of the "fans" than what has been done thus far. Higher ups and the media are all over the 93K on G Day. Higher ups and the media should stop, and focus on what the fan base did.
We have been promised a lot over many years, much like the D.C. group has done for many years with our Nation.
Folks, by that I mean fans, are fed up with the "stuff" that continued to flow from those that were doing nothing more than building their comfort zone.
Our Head Coach came on board, Kirby Smart and did not try to rob the bank. I understand that making over three(3) million dollars a year is more than most will ever see in a lifetime.
This is where the higher ups need to stop, look and listen to those that sacrifice a lot to watch and support our football team. Why do I think that our Athletic Director, making over 1/2 million a year is close to agreeing to raising ticket prices? I understand that McGarity does not set the prices, but he is the mouthpiece, so he is a part of that movement. A movement that occurs too often.
Kirby Smart is worth so much more organizational wise and coaching wise than the head coach he replaced. I admire Kirby for not taking more, and he could have.
Mahogany Row and the Athletic Director had been called on the carpet by previous "players" that "wore the Red and Black". That had been going on for more than one or two years, problem was, Mahogany Row was not ready to listen.
Now we will watch Mahogany Row and the Athletic Department Head step out, chest extended and tell you and I just how "great they are". So, what is new? Nothing.
Will I ever stop harping? Yes . . . . when those that sit in the big seats understand that we "you and I" understand. We know more than football plays and how the game is played, regardless of what the last head coach openly stated . . . . Playing and coaching in the "ARENA". We still belong to the UGA Arena, dude that made that statement, is now elsewhere. Prayers are answered.
