Not a lot of doubt in my mind that Georgia defensively has made major changes since hiring Jeremy Pruitt, and his returning to Alabama.

Expect to see our defense to continue to improve, one reason, the young men that were recruited by Pruitt and Company. Statistics over the two years under Pruitt and Company prove that to be true. Smart and Company can and will continue along the same path that some of these young men understand.

A plus for our new coaches on defense. They can recruit in a particular way to build depth and also do what Saban has done in Alabama since his arrival back to the SEC. Often it has been said that Nick Saban had only to “plug and play”. That has not been the case in Athens prior to the “changeover”.

Smart and Company will do some things differently, we know that. Suspect that Kirby is happy with what Jeremy left him on the defense.

My thinking is as has been said, the hiring of the offensive coordinator and the offensive line coach, along with an up and coming running back coach and receivers coach with a lot of experience was a great move in hiring coaches. Leadership from the new offensive coaches will enable Smart to do what he “needs” to do, and “will” . . . . lead.

Not like the offense is barren. The talent on that side of the ball is enormous. Coaches on that side will start what I believe to be a bit more of a “journey”. Believe the new coaches will do the same thing that the defense had a head start on, building depth. Understandable that the coaches want larger and longer offensive players. Can already see that changes are being made in the recruitment of offensive linemen. Offensive line might be a year or so behind the defense as a whole. Good news is . . . . it is being addressed.

2016 Season we will see changes in improvement game after game. Of that, I have zero doubts.

There is a lot of “buzz” right now about how many young men are looking closer at what the University of Georgia has to offer. Scholastically, it has been in Athens forever. Athletically (football) you be the judge, I have given my opinion a “couple” of times.

DawgDoc (Old Fart #1) ;) . . . . I like this feeling of excitement that I am going through.

Would like nothing more than to watch these young men and coaches grow together.

Players have a short stay in Athens. Maybe this time we will see the length of service on the coaching staff to last longer and provide everyone that is truly into UGA Football, consistency, and a reason to "Bark" again.

I do believe that there is now a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Do not believe that we will hear some of the same things we have listened to in the past and know we have heard that played out many times, both lip service and coaches knowing they are "short timers" in Athens. All of that has happened before and after Mark Richt.

Kirby Smart being a "home grown product" also excites many more than myself, feel sure you are on board with our replacement. He knows what is expected, actually stepping into a different world than he has ever been in before.

One thing that I really like is Kirby Smart will not allow the "outsiders" to run "his team". Kirby Smart is serious about how UGA Football should be ran.

Thanks for the Thank You. Appreciated.

Has been discussed on Dawgs.com from time to time. Back to that "area of Special Team(s)".

#98 Rodrigo Blankenship. Coach Smart had some "nice words" about Rodrigo's performance in the scrimmage. Surprise me, nope. Coach Smart has his eyes on "everything" connected to UGA Football. Finally a complete coach. This is why coaches like Nick Saban make the big bucks. Do I believe that Kirby Smart is after the big bucks . . . . hope so, tells me that he is on point.

There were some posts about Blankenship including videos when he was first "hired". Should not say that with all of the "stuff" that is surrounding college football, anyway . . . . take another look if you choose.

One thing for sure, Coach Smart understands what the kicking/punting game means to any SEC Football Team.

These hang times are incredible. Me thinks. Wins games.
