Monday Thoughts . . . . My Guess

8 years 11 months ago - 8 years 11 months ago #71844 by Buc
Might miss this guess, and it is a guess as you guys know. Nothing announced as yet.

Nothing coming from the beat writers or talking heads. Could it possibly be that Dawgs.com is "first again"? Not the first time, eh.

Believe that Kirby Smart is going to choose Kevin Sherrer as our Defensive Coordinator.

Kevin is qualified, came up the same way Smart and Pruitt did. Nothing in his background that rules him out.

There are some folks I know that believe as I do. More than a possibility. Should not put Vegas odds on this, but will try.

70/30 Positive Hire.

Chief Growl, Kevin Sherrer has all of the credentials that Kirby Smart is looking for.

If we don't retain Kevin Sherrer, will be my first question about the new group hirings.

Cannot rule this out . . . . Nick Saban and Jeremy Pruitt know that Kevin is more than qualified to return to Tuscaloosa.

Allow me this.

Living in Florida, keeping up with high school and college football in the Sunshine State, Kevin Sherrer is a force. Much like Pruitt, he relates and is listened to by young men that want to play SEC Football.

There is a tremendous amount of competition in Florida for the many young men that can and will play D1 football. B1G is beating Florida up big time recruiting. Biggest mistake ever made was allowing urban meyer into the SEC and especially in a talent rich state like Florida.

Kirby Smart, this old fart votes for Kevin Sherrer, means nothing more than I do understand Kevin's importance in Florida.

Go Dawgs . . . . Time to turn the page, I believe. I believe because I have witnessed the lack of "focus" by those that "watch the money" and seem to forget what you and I as fans and contributors are looking for. More than winning the SEC East.

Kirby Smart, this is not going to be an easy task, am aware that you know what is facing your "return home". You have the "brassies" to take on a program that is more than fifteen(15) years in the dark.

Too many got comfortable, then those that have played between the Hedges and those that have deep pockets that love the University of Georgia said . . . . "Enough is Enough".

Clean slate Kirby Smart, not much more any head coach could ask for.

:)

Smart understands defense.
Continuity can be a good thing.

Believe it or not Shannon, there is a lot of "chatter" in Florida about Georgia Football.

A lot of the talk is not the same "stuff" that some post on the AJC when posting about those South of the Georgia/Florida line.

Many or most down this way are gators and are loyal to the University of Florida. Believe it or not, there are civil conversations about Georgia/Florida football.

Some of my chats with the gators are about the hire of Jim McElwain and what is thought about the hire.

I believe that Jim McElwain is going to be one heck of a head coach. For sure he is surrounded by a lot of talent, year after year.

Takes me to this.

If Georgia had not hired Kirby Smart, I have no doubt that we (UGA supporters) were in for a hard time. Those that have played for UGA knew that change was not only necessary, it was pertinent/relevant that someone had to step up and do their job. No thanks to Francis.

What to say about muschamp in Columbia, South Carolina, believe that was what "they" wanted. If not, why hire?

The East side of the SEC just got a lot tougher than it has been for too long. East side of the SEC has always had D1 players, problem was, some of the head coaches did not know how to take the "talent" to the next level.

Whether or not anyone likes or dislikes Nick Saban, he is the "force" behind the changes being made on the East side of the SEC.

Many years ago, if Erk had been hired to take over as head coach in Athens, might be this conversation would be different.

Say again, Kirby Smart you are starting with a "clean slate". Some of the talking heads are saying that it will take x number of years to catch up with the West side. Same group "Pieces of Spit" that had Auburn winning the SEC Championship and the Final Four.

One question to those that spend their money on "getting the inside information"? Any wiser after dropping your money into the "wishing well"?

Just asking . . . . Maybe Francis knows . . . .
