Watching the Nick Saban Bowl in Atlanta

8 years 11 months ago - 8 years 11 months ago #71533 by Buc
Feel that most on this board will be watching the SECCG today.

Several of the coaches, both sides of the ball have at one time spent time with Coach Nick Saban. His coaching tree speaks for itself.

Thought it would be a good thread to discuss what we see from both teams. McElwain on one sideline, Smart on the other.

Saban said in his last press conference that Kirby Smart runs the Alabama defense. Yes, he said that.

Little doubt that Jim McElwain runs the Florida offense.

These two coaches are going to knock heads for years to come, don't see either Smart of McElwain going anywhere soon.

So, let's get it on. Preview of Georgia/Florida football in the future.

Normally Chief Growl opens up the game day thread, at this point we don't have a game today . . . . :(

I don't think Florida can play with them, but who knows with all the drama this past week. Tennessee is the best team in the east imho. Florida and Oklahoma got lucky to beat them. Vols also were competitive against bama if I remember correctly.

SEC Network is currently doing a replay of the Alabama/LSU game.

First quarter . . . . Alabama 7 first downs . . . . LSU 7 yards gained.

Kirby Smart animated on the sideline, showing emotion. That will be a welcome change in Athens.

Nick Saban had a reason to get a bit "choked up". Kirby Smart served Saban and the State of Alabama well.

scooby, best team in the East was/is Florida. gators did beat the Vols.

I think floridas defense will let them hang around bama in the first half.

But then I think bama blows the doors off of them.

I just don't see Florida doing much with Treon at QB. Can't be one dimensional against Kirbys defense.

Like Buc said, it will be a nice preview of the UGA/ Florida match up for years to come..

Can't wait to see this type of ball played in Athens for many years to come.

This pretty much went as expected. FL hung around and made a valiant effort in the first half, then Bama showed up.

I just wish CKS could start immediately.
