UGA's new incoming head coach in 2001, Mark Richt, made Shockley a priority recruit, and he is generally regarded as Richt's first official recruit at Georgia. Richt ultimately chose redshirt freshman David Greene to be the starting quarterback for the Bulldogs in 2001, while Shockley was redshirted.

I remain in the camp that has a hard time with what I have watched for a long time, concerning UGA football. Seems many have began taking another look at coaching in the Classic City.

Buc, I have watched UGA football for 50+ years and I can honestly say that I never enjoyed UGA football more over that time when watching two guys....Herschel and Shockley.

Shockley was just so much fun to watch.....one of my favorite Dawgs ever....my daughter bought me a glassed plaque picture of Shockley and it is hanging in my game room.....like a shrine.
