Monday Morning Thoughts on Southern Jaguars

Southern Jaguars . . . .

Not sure what to say about the next game. Have some thoughts, after watching some of the other wins and losses thus far this season.

Some of the universities facing off with D1 schools are proving that football is played outside of the D1 Division.

Question . . . .

Playing a team that we should win against, what should the coaching staff do? Meaning, play all three quarterbacks or continue playing Lambert for at least a half? First unit playing to have more time together as a unit in real time. More or less polishing up some "things".

Same can be asked about the defensive side of the ball. Is this a game that Pruitt/Rocker and Company play more of the freshmen and maybe not starters to gain experience? Pruitt did play a lot of fresmen at the end against South Carolina.

Not sure how banged up we are, that usually comes in to play.

Game at 12 Noon on Saturday 26, 2015. Sanford Stadium will probably not have a full house. Prices are increasingly becoming a issue as to how many games family and friends can attend.

Below is a site that discusses the Jaguars.

Good post, Buc. Many view this as an "off week", but not Southern. I can't see us losing this game, but Abuurn didn't see a close game with Jacksonville State, either.

It's interesting to see how the coaches will handle this game. I think I would put Lambert in for the first few series - enough to let him get in a good scrimmage prior to his first REAL test against Alabama. After that, it would just depend on what you really want to learn. My bet is we will see very little of FB, because if he shoots out the lights, we might want to see MORE.

As for the RBs - I'd probably let Chubb play a few series as well. If he breaks a couple of long runs, maybe let him get 100. Then TAKE HIM OUT. Same for Michel and KM - no need to tempt fate. Get in some work and let the newbies show us something. They'll collect a few bruises of the next few weeks.

Sounds like the D is most likely to get a better workout. Good chance to let the younger ones show off some of what they have learned.

Right, it's a real game and a good chance to spread the work it out a little. See what else we got. Try some stuff. Jaguars are for real so don't let your guard down.

Don't get too pumped up about the SC game. Good game, good win. Kicked the old ball sacks butt. The team put the Whoop Ass on them.

I'm glad to see almost everybody back to the board. This board is not a profit center. It is a place for serious, seasoned fans to talk about their beloved Dawgs.

Back to work team.

Go Dawgs!!!

For winning the Natty give every Dawg a bone AND prime rib steak.

I would like to see our kick off coverage team get a lot of work. When your kicker is having to make tackles it's really not something to celebrate.

If it was me, Lambert plays 1st quarter.

Ramsey and Faton get a series in the 2nd.

Come back with Lambert for the 1st or 2nd series in the second half and then turn it over to the backups.

The thing that bothers me about getting the backups in the game is everyone seems to do it when the entire 2nd or 3rd team is in the game. Me, I want to get them a series or 2 in with the 1st team.

My guess though as to what we'll do is the usual vanilla, Football 101:

Lambert probably plays 1st half, maybe a series or 2 in the 2nd. Ramsey takes over from there. At the most Faton makes an appearance with 2 minutes to go and hands the ball off twice before kneeling to end the game, but even that much time is doubtful for him.

I would love to see him get more time, but CMR probably doesn't want to run the risk of letting everyone see him run all over the field and light them up. If that happens and then Lambert struggles against 'Bama, everyone will 2nd guess the HC and scream about why we didn't put Faton in. I sincerely don't think our HC wants to let play on the field influence people's opinion of his pecking order for #'s 2 and 3 on the depth chart, lol

God Bless and Go Dawgs

I'm on the same page with you here. I sure hope we're wrong about FB and they at least let him show something meaningful.
