From Athens- Friday Thoughts 5-9-15

Good Morning All,

Pleasant spring weather has returned to the Classic City. Amazing what a couple of days of sunshine can do for your spirits.

Maybe Yes –Maybe No

There are 32 teams in the NFL.

This January we hired an OC from one of them.

In April’s NFL draft we sent to the same team our # 1 drafted player who was selected 10th in the first round.

Not exactly sure how to calculate the odds of this happening but seems to me they would be high.

Now some would claim that CBS had little to no impact on TG3 being drafted by the Rams which was his last NFL job.

That would be a…….maybe no…..

However it was reported that TG3 spent a total of 15 minutes talking with the Rams before they drafted him.

This has me thinking maybe yes…that conversations between CBS and his old NFL team about TG3 took place.

It is not beyond reason that the Rams have been following TG3 for his college career. CBS had the opportunity to get to know TG3 in person which gave him first hand information to share with the pro teams

Sidebar- I like the fit for CC and RW going to the Chiefs. I can see AM speaking up for both.

Ray Drew with the Dolphins also provides him the chance of seeing PT early.

To all the Dawgs starting new chapters in their careers I wish them well.

New recruit ego building 101

Our 2016 QB recruit is being cast as the savior of Georgia football.

The choir that is singing this hymn is doing so to stoke this HS athlete’s ego.

No doubt that he has been told for several years at different levels that he has star power.

If we don’t do the stoking and applying the proper number of Oh’s and Ahhh’s then some other school will.

In the big picture JE will red shirt and learn and earn. I think he understands and accepts that idea. He wants to play at the next level and knows that he has to first perform at the college level.

An added bonus with his commitment to Georgia it has perked the interest of other players to join him and play for the Dawgs

That’s not a bad thing at all……..

Media Hype over UT

First the heads were in shock that UT and no players taken in this year’s NFL draft.

Then two days later they are spewing ….wait this could be a good thing!

This means that UT does not lose any experienced players!!!!

Say what!!!!

OK we don’t have anyone good enough to be drafted but they are good enough to make a difference playing at UT. Hmmmmmm

Good news we are into the month of May and rolling….
