Buc, I hope CSU does great this year, but not TOO great. After all, I'd hate to lose to them in a "who cares besides CSU" bowl game. It wouldn't be funny - ironic maybe, but not funny.
One thing caught my attention in that Jordan Jenkins video before your last post that really jumped out. The point JJ was making was that, since this is his senior season, he wants to make the most of every part of the experience. I understood that. However, the way it slipped out was "why take a snap off". He caught himself, but there it was on the video. "Why take a snap off" INDEED!
I know nobody can be 100% perfect on every play. The muscles just won't fire like that continually. However, instead of "taking a play off", why not just tap your helmet and run off the field?!!!! Let some other guy get a rep or two while you take a blow!!!!
The answer, of course, is "ego". Nobody wants to be thought of as "weak", and unfortunately tired = weak, at least in the minds of some. I kind of believe the difference between some teams and others is the number of guys "taking a play off". Climpsn did it against us last year more than we did it against them, and they got blown out. I think we did it all day long against Florida. And our coaches did it against the 'Cocks and the Bugs.
If we don't have a QB ready to go, with his HEAD ON this year, I will be one of the "voices of change" after this coming season. Always a Dawg, loyal to the program - not to incompetence.
Many have criticized those of us who exercise optimism this time of year, every year. I've always been amused by that criticism - what did you want? Did you want me to say how BAD I think we'll be this year? Why bother? Well don't paint me with that brush THIS year. I'm about as pessimistic as I've ever been this year. No QB going into spring, and no real OUTLOOK for a QB coming OUT of spring. That is a recipe for a 7-5 or 6-6 season. I'll go ahead and say it now, so someone can come back here in the fall and rub my nose in this post - "We WILL lose to Alabama and Auburn this year, plus one or two other games (at least) that we should have won."
Here's my only caveat - I'll take that back, IF - IF - we come out of the spring with a QB who has an arm, can use his legs (if needed) and has the good sense and the cajones to audible out of a stupid call by the coaches if need be. But we've been told that we will most likely NOT have a definitive QB going into fall camp.
Help me find some happiness.
