A Running Start

The new faces are always hopeful and want to contribute. And I agree we have a good one in Pruitt.

We still have the same game "manager" aka CMR. We have yet to see how the new hire's ideas and enthusiasm translate to the field. We all know there have been problems in that area.

Long ways to go to the season opener. Lots of dynamics going on.

Go Dawgs!

For winning the Natty give every Dawg a bone AND prime rib steak.

I'm with ogre. I think the changes are good, and will move us from a mid 2nd tier team to an upper 2nd tier team. We'll still see bone headed calls, lose a couple we shouldn't, and all the excuses will start and we'll hear that we're moving in the right direction and 2016 will be THE year.
As always, I will gladly welcome all "I told you so" talk if I'm wrong, and will shout that I was wrong from the rooftops, but Iv'e been willing to do that for 7-8 years now.

The SMART era CONTINUES!!!!!!

Completely get what Ogre and Sadler are saying. As much of an improvement as I think Pruitt is over the towel boy, the D still got shredded by Florida and GT.

So I'll sip the Kool-Aid while I eat my reality sandwich. I don't expect the same old, same old, but I haven't seen this movie as many times as you all have. Definitely looking forward to the season though.

CJP has made an improvement on the passing D but still has a ways to go on stopping the run. Baby steps I guess, but we have to stop the run if we are going to get out of being 2nd tier, and the defensive coaches still have to prove that they can do that...get us in the top 12 of TOTAL defense nationally and then and ONLY then can you say CJP is a success.

On the O side we should be real successful in our running game, OL is going to be top notch...best we have had in a long time...QB and once again special teams is going to cost us at least 2 wins if not more...

Interesting post ogredawg.

Pruitt now has one season of coaching between the Hedges. Know that I saw improvement in several areas.

Also know that the players on the defensive side of the ball were not all Pruitt/Rocker and Company's recruits. When I look closely enough believe I saw some players that learned a lot from the first year under new leadership.

Incoming class of 2015 has a couple of names that appear to have a "little" more than those they will be replacing.

Will never disagree with wanting our team in the top 12 . . . . But why stop there?

My guess is that many of us on this board and others might have differing views as to what "success" means.

So from where I sit, I think that Jeremy Pruitt and his coaches were very successful in untangling a huge mess that they had to work on with the departure of players that had suited up the year before and one or two that could not follow Pruitt's rules. Not to mention a defensive coordinator that did not have a clue what "depth" meant and proved that more than once.

So, guess I CAN SAY that CJP was successful first year out. 2015 play will give ME a better view of how good or bad CJP is.

A top 12 in total defense would be a huge success. The potential is there to be a top 5 or better in total defense. Don't think we are there yet but like what has been done so far in trying to get us where we need to be.

This is the year to see CJP'S fingerprints all over the D and we will be able to tell just where he is going.
