McGarity and Group Fumbled Again . . . .

wlayton, like you mentioned, let me be perfectly clear also, believe I understand where you are coming from.

Also included in McClendon's “titles” is “Assistant Coach”. Does that mean if something happens for some unknown reason to Mark Richt that Bryan McClendon takes over for the missing head coach?

Looking at the coaching assignments below, Bryan McClendon is the only name listed as "Assistant Head Coach".

Coaches/Staff

Mark Richt - Head Coach
Bryan McClendon - Assistant Head Coach/Recruiting Coord./RBs Coach
Jeremy Pruitt - Defensive Coordinator/Secondary Coach
Tracy Rocker - Assoc. Head Coach/Def. Line & Will LBs Coach
Brian Schottenheimer - Offensive Coordinator/QB Coach
Mike Ekeler - Def. Spec. Teams Coord./Inside LBs Coach
John Lilly - Off. Spec. Teams Coord./TEs Coach
Tony Ball - Wide Receivers Coach
Rob Sale - Offensive Line Coach
Kevin Sherrer - Sam Linebackers/Star Coach
Ben Brandenburg - Recruiting Operations Coordinator
Buddy Collins - Program Coordinator - Defense
John Eason - Director of Player Development
Aaron Feld - Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning
Gus Felder - Assistant Strength and Conditioning Specialist
Bryant Gantt - Program Coordinator II
Brett Greene - Director of Video Operations
George Helow - Quality Control, Defense
Dan Inman - Graduate Assistant - Offense
Alex Jackson - Quality Control, Offense
Kelin Johnson - Associate Strength and Conditioning Specialist
Josh Lee - Director of Football Operations
John Meshad - Director of Athletic Equipment
Jon Richt - Quality Control, Offense
Christian Robinson - Graduate Assistant - Defense
Doug Saylor - Program Coordinator - Offense
John Thomas - Sr. Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning
Clark Williams - Assistant Video Coordinator
Andrew Wood - Quality Control, Offense

So for starters, is he being given a "title adjustment" aka "business card"? Any explanation for "Assistant Head Coach"? What exactly does that mean?

I realize that you said . . . . I love BMc and he is extremely valuable to UGA but the fact remains (above in your quote) he is the "RC and RB's coach".....not an OC. Pay scale difference is there at every school.

Did notice that "Assistant Head Coach" was not in the above statement. Probably just a "slip".

Think this is a good start if you want to continue . . . . I do have more.

31 years old making 350k with no real pressure is not to shabby.

Coaching salaries are really out of control. The football programs at universities do make money. Got to keep in mind the only reason the football team is there is the big fat university. The university is nice and plump thanks to state money. Imo it's very unhealthy for coaches salaries to be so high.

Sounds like you gentlemen need a quick lesson in "public-sector" double speak.

Remember, these are "State" employees and carry with them the unmitigated bureaucracy of position descriptions that keep the HR paper pushers gainfully employed! Just looking at the list Buc posted made me horse laugh....Assistant HC,....Associate HC,.....WTF????.....Trust me, I'm just a few years shy of pullin' my 30 for da gobermnt and I see this type of "wordsmithing" everyday. Wanna drive an HR person to drink?...As them to accurately describe the differing key roles and responsibilities between and Coordinator, Manager and Administrator....

CBM is no closer to second in command than CTR is third!...Those are position titles, tied to pay grades, created by some HR geek!

GO DAWGS!!!!

We (UGA) went to the "cast of characters" in the NFL again. We tried that a short time back with a Defensive Coordinator who had been the Defensive Coordinator for the Cleveland Browns, fired, went to the Dallas Cowboys as their defensive line coach. Chosen by those that hire coaches in Athens, and his stay was short.

Hired a offensive line coach from the now defunct UAB football team, and did not take Will Friend long to "whisper" in Richt's ear that he had a friend that is the Defensive coordinator for FSU that could move the UGA program forward. No NFL experience, not that long in college coaching if we are talking time in grade, but proved that "old standards" do not have to apply in todays game.

Back to the recent hire for offensive coordinator. Anyone read anything about his stops on the NFL circuit and can say that he was wanted by the fan base to remain at "any" of the NFL stops? I have fans articles that I have read, many of them that were not enthralled with our recently hired Offensive Coordinator when calling plays in the NFL.

I can also say this. Bryan McClendon is a coach at UGA that has over a short period of time proven his success in recruiting running backs, will stay with that position at this point. I can name those backs, but I also know this . . . . I can move further along and pull names that are now in the NFL that McClendon is responsible for.

I have a lot more. I have compared numbers with a lot of folks in my life, the numbers since 2007 are not based on player talent or lack of, it falls directly on the shoulders of those that should "still" be coordinators, not leaders.

Assistant Head Coach? Bryan McClendon will be long gone, not knowing when, but the Row will remain as is for you and I and the changes will look no different than they do now. CYA, been going on too long in the Classic City.

Say again, the right change has not occurred in Athens. Not just the head coach. Head coaches come and go, happens every year at all levels. Guess we need to be satisfied that we remain where we are. Going into our 15th year under the entire group, head coach, athletic director and Mahogany Row.

Here is hoping that the right decision was made hiring the new offensive coordinator. Say this . . . . who would not take a pay cut to coach the likes of talent that will be on the offense in Athens in 2015.

Coach running the offense in Charlotte, tightend coach seemed to do very well. His salary is what?
