Opinion from the Swamp

I can't help but say something about the problems with the program. This is not about the team and anybody planning to come to Georgia to play ball come on. It is a good opportunity for you.

I have witnessed this type of takeover many times over my long career. Now it is happening to my beloved Dawgs.

Pardon me while I explain: In every industry (sports empire too) when the big money arrives the people responsible for the success of whatever big money is after become commodities. Their salaries are cut and the pool of people they can hire will work for less money. And they are usually just pawns.

MR has become a middle manager answering to the people who came in with the money. He will make a lot of extra money for his loyalty. He will be replaced as soon as all anointed managers and salary cuts are in place. Then a new HC comes in that doesn't know where the bodies are buried. Dang.

The folks on the Row are busy signing over the program, ESPN, ING, etc. So look for more videos on how wonderful the program is on You Tube and GeorgiaDogs.com. (GeorgiaDogs.com is owned by the PR firm ING)

Ever wonder why a program with so much money can't build a practice facility? The money is circulating at the top level only. No money for the program. The big money is carefully buffered by complicated contracts.

Then there is the perception college is supposed to be a stepping stone to the NFL. A large number of college players are just playing college ball. No NFL aspirations. Maybe for a few standouts but they will go on to the NFL without UGA's help other than playing time.

We need to clean out the Row and put in folks that can handle big media contracts. Then a new HC. Dang, lots of stuff needed. Better get busy. I bet unless the fans and supporters become vocal all we will get is a new OC. And a wait till next year.

All the PR in the world can't hide this stuff when the fans are fed up with business as usual.

Quite frankly there has been a movement that has gained a foothold, some folks from Savannah backing the Row in Athens.

Appears that you have that gator under control in your avatar. Maybe if we continue to point to our programs concerning football under the present group, others out there will look closer at what several on this board have discussed for a long time. Notice that you said you have read this site for a long period, there are many others, here is hoping we see a trend.
