Getting Prepared for Clemson

There was a thread on this board not too far back that Clemson was being discussed. One of the names that was mentioned in that thread was Deshaun Watson. It was mentioned that DW would play this season, well . . . .

Clemson making it clear that DW will play, will not be surprised to see him taking over the quarterbacking duties sooner rather than later. Young man is very talented.

This could be a blessing for Pruitt/Rocker and Company. Facing Watson will be some very talented and speedy defensive players and a defense that will be much different than the one they faced in 2013. Pruitt gave Clemson a taste of what his defenses are capable of when FSU spanked them last season.

Going to be a tough opener, will get a glimpse of what we will do against South Carolina in the second game of 2014. Pruitt/Rocker and Company will not hide anything, they want South Carolina to understand that this years defense will pin their ears back and get after you. Will be no arm raising this season, quick way to have Pruitt on you for that kind of display. Finally believe we have defensive coaches that do believe in "team ball". Pruitt/Rocker and Company's coaching backgrounds shout that for all to hear. Glad the "other Watson" moved on to the NFL. :)

Yes Buc......does "a deer in headlights" ring a bell with you?

I think we beat Clemson by 17.

Yes it does ring a bell, more ways than one, not meaning to be too ugly. Below is a video of the FSU defense. Think all of us heard the talk during Spring practice about Pruitt/Rocker and Company "demanding" that the players run to the ball. Below there is more than enough tape to see just what Pruitt/Rocker and Company not only look for, they demand.

One word of caution, there is some language on the video, might want to be sure to turn the volume down or mute if there are some around that should not hear it.

Find myself starting and stopping the video, trying to get familiar with the defensive alignments.

Did read where Mark Richt said in the last few days that he was "happy with the defensive players since they broke camp". Working hard in the "between Spring and Fall".

Had to delete the video, language gets worse, no place for it.

Replaced the original video with this one, gives some pretty good examples of what Pruitt teaches. From what I can gather, Pruitt forces the offenses to the "outside" and that plays right into his defensive schemes.

The link below goes to show just how valuable some think certain coaches are worth. Have read in different places where many say Nick Saban was/is all about the money. Check the link.

Also, Pruitt was the one person other than Smart that Saban had great faith in. Now we have one of the young coaches that learned much under Saban. Tried a couple of times to lure Kirby Smart away, just could not do it. Think I know why.

Pruitt has the Saban pedigree, how could any of us not like that? Only place for our defense to go in 2014 is up, compared to where grantham had left us. Still have nightmares about grantham remaining in Athens.
