Go Dawgs!
From Athens-15 Fridays until GDF was created by yankeedawg1
Good Morning All,
Time out from football as this is Memorial Day weekend
In the past I have acknowledged that my quality of life would
have not be the same if not for those who have served in our military
It all started in 1776 when we gained our freedom as a nation
The call to duty remains to this day
Truly sad that we have this unthinkable scandal surrounding the
VA May Gods grace sort this mess out and fix it
Been broken far too long and just is an example of kicking the can down the road
The below sums up my feelings about Arlington and the TOTUS
Given the opportunity thank a vet this weekend
Indy and NASCAR double dip racing this weekend
Pause and give thanks
Have a great weekend and a safe week
As always “Go Dawgs”!!!
The Sentinel’s Creed
My dedication to this sacred duty
is total and whole-hearted.
In the responsibility bestowed on me
never will I falter.
And with dignity and perseverance
my standard will remain perfection.
Through the years of diligence and praise
and the discomfort of the elements,
I will walk my tour in humble reverence
to the best of my ability.
It is he who commands the respect I protect,
his bravery that made us so proud.
Surrounded by well meaning crowds by day,
alone in the thoughtful peace of night,
this soldier will in honored glory rest
under my eternal vigilance.

Heart felt thanks for the above yankeedawg1, and to those that hit the thank you button on the thread.
Here is a photo that has been on the intenet on occcasion. Have applied it to some of my posts.
Thought maybe some might like to read the copy behind the photograph.
Frank Glick, an amateur photographer, captured this amazing image at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minnesota. He thought that the family of the veteran buried at that gravestone might like to have a copy, and did some research on Sgt. Maurice Ruch.
Ruch, a veteran of World War II, was a US Army marksman who served in the Aleutian Islands and earned a Bronze Star. Then he went home, became an engineer and got married. John Tevlin of the Star Tribute spoke with Ruch's widow, Vivian, and best friend, Jack Kiefner:
I told Vivian that some cultures believe the eagle is a symbol, not only of patriotism and dignity, but a messenger between heaven and earth. She nodded solemnly.
"I'd say the eagle had a very good eye when he landed on Maurie, and he was respected," she said.
"I miss him," said Vivian as she picked up the photo. "He was a good man and a good provider."
"The eagle couldn't have picked a better person," said Kiefner.
Point being, the photograph was not "staged".
Know that many are happy to have a three day weekend. Here is hoping that maybe one moment over the three days our Veterans are remembered.

Wow, awesome picture and article Buc....thank you.
yd1, great post....thank you.
yd1, I know we joke around every Friday about a "cool one" for you. This week a cool one to salute our veterans and their service to our country for our freedom.

yankeedawg1, I know that you come from good stock. If not, I know that you believe in fairness for all.
I have over the years read many up and down statements about what should be posted on the bulletin boards inside the players area.
If I could send one message to every University of Georgia football player, or coach, I would "demand" that all watch this video.
Sometimes those of us that are "safe" from gun fire or genetics, we fail to realize just how lucky we are, I call it Blessed by Our Lord and Saviour.
If anyone that watches the video below without going through the entire piece of work and gains nothing from it, I say . . . .
Stop, look and listen, you and I are BLESSED. The video below shows what "blessing" means.
I encourage anyone that comes to this thread to watch the entire video.

Then we have this . . . . right, wrong or otherwise, some of us know and understand what has happened in the past.
