In the investment business when you are thinking it may be time to sell a stock, bond etc, sometimes you get a much clearer picture if you look for the answer from the "flip" side of the question. My brother/partner and I turn and ask the question....."currently, if you DIDN'T own the stock, would you use your cash to BUY it now?.....if you wouldn't buy the stock now, then why would you want to OWN it???.....so we sell it.

So, if CMR wasn't the current coach, would I hire him today?......

no

wlayton, spot on analogy...i do that myself with stocks.

BTW, what are the odds in 3 years Pruitt is UGA's head coach? would you give me 2-1 odds? if he is so good that he covers up cmr's screw ups, then no, cmr may stay.......but if the defense is stellar and cmr steps down? yes, i can see that over trying to grab kirby......no offense to smart, i don;t blame him for staying at bama, but after two chances to come to athens, i'll take pruitt (who maybe left a better situation regardless of the reason to give us a chance). more than smart did.

if we have back to back nationally top 10 defenses, and top 5 recrutiing classes, i say if cmr is gone for any reason, give the job to pruitt, and promote scheerer to DC.

Brings this thought to my mind. ....."currently, if you DIDN'T own the stock, would you use your cash to BUY it now?.....if you wouldn't buy the stock now, then why would you want to OWN it???.....so we sell it.

Guess the question in my mind is . . . . who would buy it? Or, if you are selling it, seems along the same lines of what we have seen and heard out of Athens from those in control of the "stocks". They are peddling hard trying to start "new issues".

One of the points that I am trying to make here is . . . . we are for the most part in agreement on the head coach issue. That however is not the place that "stock" improvment is made entirely. Goes further up than McGarity. Back to the same saying so often used. Follow the money all the way to the top. Coaches and athletic directors come and go, the money does not.

Just a thought. :)

Apparently McGarrity is engaged in a full on buy-back of MR stock. It's keeping the value artificially high despite the fact everyone else is selling.

Buc, in any marketplace, there's ALWAYS a buyer on the other side.....or maybe I should say....."a sucker"?? ;)
