Have thought about this post a lot.
Now comes an article from Marc Weiszer that tries to explain some of the problems that have been mentioned in this thread.
Many trying to explain what happened in 2013. Some of the comments are acceptable to me, other parts back up what was expected to be said by the "coaching(?) staff".
Again in his own little twisted way, grantham is not a stand up man/coach.
We have read parts one and two of the media showcase that the coaches want all to read and agree with. Now comes part three.
Once again, EXCUSES for a lack of coaching. Players going to the NFL, players transferring, injuries, youth and it goes on and on. I have read this same line about our team for many years now. Next year, we will again go through listening and reading "coach and media speak".
As far as youth, we are not the only team in the SEC that were faced with replacing starters. We did however manage to finish well behind others that were faced with the same or similar problems.
What would I do/not do if I am to complain? First off, I realize we have youth. So what do I do? Give them the toughest defensive learning system I can coming directly from high school? I do know that Jarvis Jones said grantham's system is much tougher than the system employed in the NFL. Do I think that JJ is blowing smoke? Nope, not his style. How can these young men be expected to grasp such a system in such a short time? How are they going to play "fast" when they do not understand the system. Some of the young pups we have for a short time, if anything are being cheated by grantham's system. He is ruining the chances of some when the NFL draft rolls around for them to qualify. Lots of talent, can't say the same for the coaching. I call BS.
Players leaving for reasons unknown to us, then we hear in the link below how that hurt the team. I know this, #5 looked like hell for over 3/4 of the year and he has been in the system as long or longer than anyone. He still "blew" plays, why? Because he did not know where he was supposed to line up or who to cover. FACT. Needs to improve his skill set before mentioning others. That is a page from grantham's book. Excuses.
Just can't buy most of the garbage that is being passed out. mark richt saying improvement needed in the secondary, brings to my mind the words he has used over and over in the media. Going to take charge and fix Special Teams. Sounds exactly like what I hear coming out of Washington, D.C., from someone that says they will fix things and then they hop Air Force One for a Hawaiian vacation.
I simply think that the current leadership in Athens think that they are entitled. Roman Empire once thought that way.
Will stop, can say the ugly things in another thread.
