Thanks for the link, Buc. I was reading the first couple of posts saying "huh..wha..what?"

That's really sad. He was a DGD. We look at these guys as football players, and don't know what they are dealing with in
their personal lives.

Sad :(

God Bless and Go Dawgs

wlayton, I appreciate Mark Richt making the comments he made. He spoke from his heart. Too much of this going on in football, don't really think that there is an answer. If so, have yet to see it. Head injuries and suicides. Don't know if that was the case with Paul, but I do know this . . . . Paul Oliver would damn sure stick you.

wlayton, reminds me so much of our Veterans. Right now there are 20 or more Veterans commiting suicide EVERY DAY. It is heart breaking. Veteran suicides now reach over 8,000 every year. Will stop with this. I spend a lot of time in the VA in Viera, Florida. When a medical professional sees me on medical visit, the first question is . . . . Have you or do you think or consider suicide.

I shoot this out to yankeedawg1. He has ended so many of his "Blue Plate Specials" with thanks to our Veterans. Means a lot to those that were called or volunteered.

Sorry, close to my heart . . . . Paul Oliver and Veterans.

God Bless.

Big game between the Hedges, also big win for Georgia. These puppies are now going to grow up just like Paul Oliver did in Athens. God Bless again. :)

Edit: Sorry got a little carried away and intended to post this link.

Edit #2: I really miss averagedawg. He and his wife are closely associated with the VA in Nashville. Wish Dan would return to this board, he is definitely missed.

One more thing about suicides. I pulled this paragraph from the link.

Concussions also are a chronic risk factor leading to suicidal thoughts, Bryan said, because head trauma makes people more vulnerable to suicidal thoughts. The dangerous daily routines of a soldier β€” or simply involvement in sports or accidents β€” increase the risk of injury.

β€œIt turns up the volume on depression,” he said.

Something to think about. These players get bigger and stronger, something has to give. Human body can stand only so much.

My answer to some of the things that can be done. Teach these young men how to tackle, much like some of us were taught a million years ago. That is a serious statement. And it is also JMHO. Get the hell away from the Jack Tatum chest thumping after bringing more than one football career to an end. For those that don't know who Jack Tatum was, the following link is provided.
