VIZIO BCS National Championship
Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA
BCS No 1 vs. BCS No 2
CFN Preview 2013 Projected Matchup: Georgia vs. Texas
Top Three Other Options: 1) Alabama, 2) Oregon, 3) Florida State
Why? It's the national championship in Pasadena; of course Texas has to be involved. The Longhorns lost the 2010 BCS championship to Alabama after Colt McCoy got knocked out right away, and, of course, Vince Young came up with his magnum opus in the 2007 Rose Bowl win over USC. The 2013 Longhorns are overdue under Mack Brown with 20 starters returning and a weakened Big 12 to get through. Assume one loss along the way to Oklahoma or at TCU, but if the team finally, finally starts to play up to its talent level again - granted, that's a big, giant if - and it's able to hold serve at home against Ole Miss, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, this should be the best of the one-loss teams.
The winner of the SEC championship will be a mortal lock for California as long as there aren't any other BCS unbeatens. The Dawgs will lose once along the way, but a victory over Alabama or LSU will give Mark Richt the chance to finally get the big game gorilla off of his back in the first meeting against the Longhorns since the 10-9 win in the 1984 Cotton Bowl.

But I don't think that's going to pan out. Here is what I believe will be the NC matchup -
Ohio State versus the winner of the Stanford/Oregon game. Sad to say that, but every SEC team plays a few teams that can ruin their season, so the odds are against an undefeated SEC team (hasn't happened in a long time). But I believe Ohio State will EASILY go undefeated, and so will either Stanford or Oregon (probably Stanford).
It's not fair, and most of the "homers" for other teams would actually think I'm saying that because I'm a SEC homer (I'm really not). But it's not fair to the COLLEGE FOOTBALL FAN. We DESERVE to watch the two BEST teams in college football play each other - that's REAL entertainment for a football fan, regardless of your favorite team. Last year that game was UGA versus Alabama in the SEC championship. It may be that game again this year, sadly. But the Rose Bowl is ALREADY shaping up to host the NC this year.

Think thriller is on the mark. Football fans everywhere outside the SEC want to return to the days of the Rose Bowl, being the major bowl . . . . should call it the media bowl. High revenue return when you have one of the Big 10 teams along with any West Coast team. Back in the day, UCLA and USC.
Rose Bowl Parade and all of the glitz that the networks can produce.
So, what is the next move? More of the same. Who will decide which 4 teams make the playoffs? At this point in time, don't care what team you select from the West Coast or Ohio State, neither could play a SEC schedule and remain undefeated. To me it is not based on a defeat, it is based on strength of schedule.
If the IRS can be maneuvered, why not a National Championship?

That line says it all. My opinion.
