Seems we are having some unexpected injuries recently. Hate to see broken bones, large or small.
Have a thought on the subject.
Many of these young men have been on campus for a long period of time. Mentioned before how proud I am of the players remaining on campus and working out. These guys are showing their colors . . . . Red and Black. Time eventually catches up with everyone, regardless of age or physical fitness. Many or maybe most of these puppies are “tired”. Body starts to feel the effects of too much of anything, breaks down.
Lot of talk about being in mid season form from the opening bell. Now is when I think that Ron Courson needs to step up (probably already has) and tug at the reigns. These players want to impress, that has not changed since the first snap ever in college football. They will also do things that their bodies are not physically wanting to do. Starting on Saturday is ingrained.
These young men are not machines, they need time management to reach certain levels. Player might be all that on Tuesday’s practice, come Thursday, does not look like the same person with the pads on a couple days prior.
Guess I have mentioned a couple of times recently, there is more to Georgia and College Football than Saturday afternoons. The journey to Saturday between the Hedges is a long path.
Below are “some” of the credentials of Ron Courson, worth a read. Same man that did more to get Kolton Houston reinstated than anyone I can mention.
Some of the coaches in D1 football should take the time to sit with their swim coaches. We happen to have one of the best at the University of Georgia. If I were the head coach of the football team, would sit with Jack Bauerle and learn a few things. Mention the word "taper" to Jack Bauerle, you will get his immediate attention. I sincerely hope that Mark Richt and his coaching staff know and understand the word "taper". Could be the difference between winning and losing a football game. Clemson is a must, don't care what the talking heads say.
Head football coaches don’t know everything. Example of that . . . . Mark Richt and the kicking game. That is not a slap, that is fact. Kudos for him saying he would get involved.
