Good Morning All,

Past the halfway point for July. Just 12 short days and we can welcome August and the starting of fall camp soon after.

Just like our summer drills I think our approach to fall camp will have a different feel to it this year.

Pads poppin as Buc would say, I think with Clemson being our first game and then USC it will be max effort from day one with a load of work to get done.

Don't think coaches will have a problem keeping our players focused

I said it before that I feel not playing a cupcake in our first game will prove a good thing in getting ready for the balance of our season.

Sharing some conversations I have been having about CTG with the locals

He is committed to the college game and being a teacher.

His goal is first to build a shutdown defense which is the best in college football period

Change the players but the results the same, no fun playing against his “D” much like Kirby has done at Bama.

Down the road he wants to be a HC but not just any school. He has tasted SEC and all that comes with it.

CTG knows he has to learn what it takes to be a HC rather than a DC,he is aware that much can be learned from CMR in that regard.

Again much like Kirby not jumping until he has the opportunity he wants.

IMO don’t see CTG looking elsewhere just yet.

Pause and give thanks

Have a great weekend and a safe week

As always “Go Dawgs”

Go Dawgs!

yd1, your Friday post came early, like a Christmas present! Love it!

And you made a GREAT POINT. CTG knows a great thing when he's got one. Being the DC at UGA is NOT a bad job. It's paying pretty well, and it has got to be FUN, and it can and WILL lead to great things. He's here for a reason.

I'm looking for great things this season. I've been staying quiet, but as you point out, the best time of year has ALMOST returned! You and Buc and wlayton and Dawg With Style and SadlerDawg and growl and TN Dawg and AllDawgs5 and sflanagan21 (welcome aboard!) and all the others on board here are getting me FIRED UP!!!!!

GO DAWGS!!!!! SIC'EM!

Speaking of teaching moments. Expect to see some of those moments along the lines of what the photograph suggests. Todd Grantham is being called out on some of the boards, referring to his time as Defensive Coordinator. Personally think that one of the largest hurdles has been cleared . . . . finally beginning to build "true depth". Your statement above referring to Mark Richt seems to bear it out yd1. Proven point in the SEC, which now boasts many National Championships, defense wins titles.

Expect Todd Grantham to exhibit some of the "teaching moments" as exhibited below this Fall. There will be head gear and pads making a lot of noise between the start of practice and the Clemson take down.

It's time to break out the season. Dawg With Style, you named more guys than me, and I left off some good ones - only because there are too many to call out by name.

I'm looking forward to this fall more than any in a long time, because my life has finally "settled down" just a little - down to a low simmer, anyway. I've gotten much better at my job (which has given me less time for the forum). I started work for a great company a few years ago, and it's so difficult (agricultural software support) that I'm just now getting my confidence going. My family life has settled down a lot too. Time for FOOTBALL.

Buc, I like your terminology - the "Clemson Take Down". To me they had one quality win, over LSU. If they had lost that game (they won by a point), our opener would have about half the glitz and glamor. Last year we laid ONE EGG. I can't see that happening again. We lost 7 NFLers. But how many of the "new guys" got significant playing time last year? A lot. Next man up. And we have some GROWN MEN. JJ and AO gone, but that means someone is hungry for playing time. CTG will put the best player on the field. And this program has some studs - not many duds.

Tee it up. Let's go!

thriller, glad to hear that life is on the right path. Been through some of those times, just makes you stronger when push comes to pull.

You could not be more correct when you lay out why the game with Clemson is drawing a lot of attention. True story, LSU had some folks that frankly laid down.

If we don't produce a win against Clemson, every board that I know of will blow up. From where I sit, there is not a solid reason for Clemson to win this football game. Their place or ours, makes no difference.

Flat out . . . . Clemson cannot cover our receivers, too much talent. For sure someone on their team will "spy" Gurley the entire game. With our offensive talent and being able to spread the ball around, and AM will, Georgia is almost given a free pass or run on every play.

Only way Georgia comes up short is for us to shoot ourselves in the foot. AM won't allow that on offense. Grantham and company will drive the Clemson quarterback nuts with the different looks. Different looks and depth that we have not had for many years, if ever.

The beauty of having AM back is his ability to read the defenses, which means he can dictate to them, rather than the defense dictate to our offense. Simple math. :)
