Conference Alliances? was created by ogredawg
I found this a very interesting read.
www.mrsec.com/2013/05/conference-schedul...pull-off-in-reality/
If the SEC does not "raid" the ACC to form a Super 18-20 team SEC this to me would be the next best option like the writer states if it could be pulled off, and who knows what lurks in the mind now that the playoff for the NC will soon be upon us.
An LSU/Syracuse, Alabama/Miami, Auburn/Pitt, TAM/VaTech on an annual basis would be interesting to say the least. Make them all a home and home type series with maybe the 3rd one being played in a major venue ( ATL, Nashville, E Rutherford or Charlotte.) Then do some type of rotation for another 3 years. Now in all fairness the games should be played early in the season due to the Southern teams having to go up north instead of late and having to play in the cold weather. Would be interesting to say the least and maybe even worth a try say for 3 years to see how it all pans out.
Any other thoughts on this pros or cons.

ogredawg, having read your post more than once, think that you have a plan that works. Many benefits to playing a home and home setup. At this point in time with the SEC proving to be superior, top to bottom, will rapidly increase the overall game of college football. At some point might get Notre Dame to come off of their high horse and play some real football again.
Regardless of how this plays out, there are going to be those that will never be satisfied, will feel cheated, and the beat goes on.
My true feelings are, hoping to raise the level of college football awareness and ending up making the college game grander than professional football. Straighten the NCAA and the (IRS) out (had to add that) with leaders of good intentions and the sky is the limit.
Somewhere around three years or so ago on this board there was good conversation on this subject. Deep down, feel that the SEC/ESPN is going to create empty seats in a lot of stadiums. Comforts of home. Have seen some of that in recent years at Georgia and many other universities. Would love to read the final paper work between the SEC and The Flagship Station.
Maybe a bit off course, apologize, mind works that way. Good thread, makes me think.

I think it would do both conferences good to rotate teams every 3 years with the exceptions listed by the writer who play every year anyway and are rivals. Alabama playing VaTech and LSU playing Miami for 3 years then rotating can do nothing but create interest in both conferences.
The playoff will force changes in schedules real soon.........
