From Athens- Stability

Good Day All,

I heard this week where UT has had four HC’s in the last six years.

Stability is a cornerstone IMO of any successful business, sports program or marriage.

We came through a stretch where replacing CMR was a heated topic.

I think with the help of our new AD we saw a rebirth of CMR’s as our HC. Along with making some very key hires.

Without question his stability has grounded our entire program.

From my point of view the ship has been righted and we now have a group of like minded coaches who understand the mission of coaching the talent in Athens up to a higher level.

I like what I have seen of CCW in the short time he has been here. He understands the task that he has been given and has been able to have his players buy into his plan. He is a “WE” coach not unlike CWF.

Just like CTG and CMB have their film sessions I am hearing that CWF and CCW and more than a passing conversation about our programs needs. Love It !

Buc you called out several of our new young pups on defense and how you were impressed with their comments.

I agree, a mentor of mind told me if you don’t believe in yourself you can’t ask other to. No trash talk here, A very good thing.

While on the subject there has also been a change for the better in our coach speak. No excuses…. Results speaks best.

Rainy weekend,much needed.

Chili and cornbread Saturday and a wee bit of hoops and hops.

Pause and give thanks

A special thanks to those who are in service to our country pass and present. Thank You !

Have a great weekend and a safe week

As always “Go Dawgs”

yankeedawg1, think you are right. If we look closely, it appears that our program is 180 degrees from where it was after McGarity took the helm.

Also have heard that the "spirited" feelings of many players continues during practice. Means one thing to me . . . . some of these young pups want to play when we open against Clemson.

Chili and cornbread sounds real good. Cook a lot myself, love my cast iron cookware. Dang near as old as I am. Funny how old methods also do the 180 degree move. Cast iron was the way back in the day.

Off to the VA this morning, time to look around and give thanks.

Have a great day yd1. :)

Lodge is my cast iron cookware of choice.

Red and Black my favorite colors.

:)

Edit: Talking about stability. Found the followng post at the link below very interesting. Talk about leadership. A bit different than IC. Not trying to stir it up, just the facts.

Information like the link below supplies sure sounds better than some of the stuff that we had to put up with not too long ago after Spring Break. ;)

Great post as always YD1. No doubt in my mind that stability is a major component to success with coaches, but also players. Look to return every starter from the O-Line a year ago. Not only every starter up front, but also every back-up. Been a few years since we weren't playing rotating pieces trying to find the right combination. I realize that many are pushing for some quality time, but feels good having the same group back. Also, like the articles I am seeing about CWF. Coach won't let the group up front let down their guard for a minute. Wonder if CRG did that last year with the defensive front? The lack of effort at times makes me think not.

Nothing better than cornbread out an iron skillet, well maybe fried okra.

God Bless our troops and veterans. Many paid the ultimate sacrifice for freedom so many are taking for granted.

Daughter (school teacher) coming up in the morning from South Florida. One requirement that I have . . . . have to cook fried okra along with the chicken wings.

On the same page with you AD5 about effort from some last season, and . . . . maybe before that.Think that Chris Wilson will cover those tracks and create some new ones that will also add to the overall stability.

Will Friend in my mind is a champion, expects the same from all of his group.

Still trying to figure out the player in the link below. He was a terror in high school, hoping we see a little more from the young man. Do know that he has a bit of a "temper". Or did have.
