thriller, Alabama and Ohio State. That is what the media, especially the media in the Northeast want badly.
Think the Super Bowl draws big bucks and attention, promise you and anyone reading this that the NFL is shaking in their boots. College football is now going to be more than a training camp for the National Football League.
From where I sit, think that we are going to see the West Coast get in the collegiate football race again. If, if the SEC team or teams have a "minor" slip, it will be the West (Left) Coast lining up against Ohio State. Even if Ohio State should lose one game in their nondescript conference, say to Michigan or Michigan State, SEC with the same won/loss record would be on the sidelines watching, not participating. Bank it my friends.
The college football world is about a step away from being run by folks like Disney/ESPN. Appears that Fox and CBS have awakened to the fact that there is serious money to be made in college football especially. Problem with that is playing catch up. Disney does not like to lose, and seldom do. Old enough to remember CBS being number one in college football delivery, followed by NBC. Just saying, changes are on the way . . . . again.
What I think we are going to see is the continuing attendance dropping at the college stadiums, that is not a news alert. It is happening now, has been going on for some time. We can look at Georgia and the student section and the recent changes. Higher ups have changed that policy and there will be further changes, not Georgia alone, across the board. Great time for Adams to leave, he is no different than Emmert, act like it did not happen on his watch. Too bad that Adams will continue to "hang" around Athens.
Gloom and doom nope, just the facts being presented.
Salaries are out of whack for those putting the game on the field, seats are very expensive and now those that want to be in the "chase" have to change things. Expensive seats, expensive hot dogs. Three dimension television, comfortable seats, fifty cent hot dogs, or less. Restrooms without lines.
Yes, I understand that it is not the same as it was a few years back, but someone has to explain the "same" to me. I look at numbers, and understand that changes are being made, made by families that once enjoyed that Saturday afternoon in Athens or any college campus across the country.
Anyone on this board think that we won't see college athletes making some money, legally. All of us know that Auburn won a National Championship and sent more than a couple of dollars to those that "worked a deal". Like the idea or not, if anyone thinks that paying college athletes is wrong, forget National Championships, that does not correct wrong, but it is what it is. Southern California player did well, but college football suffered, and in my opinion, opened the gates too wide to stop the incoming tide.
The gates are wide open, and we had a Phd. in Indianapolis remind some of us how the "system works" . . . . without saying a word to back up the policies that the governing body (NCAA) wants all to live by with one simple exception . . . . the NCAA.
Not going to apologize, this is where I think we (the country) are at, don't look for a lot to change in the game that all of us LOVE.
Leave you with this . . . . A. J. Green. How many of the dollars made on jersey sells were put in the pocket of Emmert? Anyone think that Emmert will have to sit out? Fair, don't think so. Not a bruise on Emmert's body . . . . Did he really need that million dollars?
thriller, said to you that I have more to say, and I have just started. I don't go quietly into the night when someone like Emmert "slides in" and ruins a game that I have watched, participated in, coached and spent time supporting the university of my choice, along with others when it came to the TRUTH.
Go Dawgs . . . . Coach'em up
