FRom Athens- NSD 2013

Good Morning All,

February marks my tenth year in Athens. Blessed in many ways.

NSD 2013 has a different feel than any of the past nine. Close to 2012 but IMO still a notch above.


With CTG coming on campus it seems we have become more laser like on who we recruit. John Jenkins comes to mind as the first guy CTG went after to start filling is “D” with the type players he wanted.

To my thinking CMR knew that IC was loaded with all kinds of issues. Me thinks that is why they went hard after Gurshal.

CTG also brought a focus on keeping in state talent at UGA. A very good thing.

CMR also is dipping into the JC ranks to find talent that can help from day one. I think our AD may have brought that topic up during an early conversation with CMR .

As we know there are several NFL draft picks that will enjoy a hefty contract due to CTG. I think this will show up on NSD.

Least not forget the job CMB has done in making his side of the ball attractive for a recruit to look at joining.

While there is much hype on who signs were we need to take time and step back and remember who has already made their way to Athens and are getting ready for spring ball.

Add to that the redshirts and as Buc says there is a boat load of talent here that are ready to be coached up.

In talking to my local campus roosters you can sense that this year’s group of returning players know what it felt like walking off the field after the SECCG.

Like the fact that none are flapping their gums. Work harder and get the 5 yards next time we have the opportunity. No excuses

It would sure be nice to see things go our way on or before NSD 13.........

Good morning yd1, as always, you give us things to ponder, especially during this quite time.

Speaking of those on campus, I read that of all the SEC teams, UGA has the most early signee's on campus than any other at 13 (believe that's correct). So alot of young pup's are getting a valuable jump start to their careers. Bodes well for better depth.

As Buc, yourself and others have stated, it sure seems that the coaching staff have their collective acts together and are progressing in great uniformity.

I think the D will end the season better than last year and certainly more consistent....hey CTG, "dumb it down" a little, will ya???

yd1, even though the season is over, I still have a cool one for you and your Friday blue plate specials.
