With young men these days, maybe it has always been something like this . . . . NFL is the primary goal of many that play college football.
I think about how I felt prior to the Georgia Southern game and the knees and ankles of our players. Then came a game against Georgia Tech, fearing the same thing in a short period of time.
Have to go off on a subject that is near and dear to me. There is no place in "football" at any level to teach the young men to try and disable them, some for life. I have seen many rule changes in football, but somehow this one is allowed to remain. It is criminal. Will stop. Maybe. . . . We are often reminded of concussions, we see that the rules have been changed on head shots, had more than one of those, understand what "fuzzy" is when you try to wake up. Bill Curry from College Park High School did that to me twice. Knees and ankles, not meant to play the game of football, especially the knee.
Sorry, got off of the subject a bit. It will be easy for some to play hard in the game in Orlando, some will play harder than others, that is always the case. Let us face the truth, the young men have to take care of those limbs, while it is football and about respect, it is not for the National Championship. Like those words or not, it is the truth. Nebraska will come to play, up to us as just how much we let them play. Read an article quoting Mark Richt and in the article he makes mention of using the returning players. Makes a lot of sense to me. Young men playing against Nebraska will teach them more than most scrimmages in Athens.
yankeedawg1, returning from the Far East, stopped in Pearl. Does not seem to mean as much these days, some folks never liked history. God bless each and every one that was on the Arizona and other areas that fateful day.
Sorry, couple of areas in your post that make me appreciate and look at the real world without rose colored glasses.
If Russ is the lead dog, expect "Georgia" will be sitting comfortably by the man in the Red and Black with the reins in her paws.
Apologize again, best wishes to all that frequent this board. Thanks to Steve for running a board that encourages "real football talk".
See you folks in Orlando.
