Red and Black, Win or Lose
Don't Look Past FAU was created by dapolla
Of course I'm kidding, but maybe there's a grain of truth to my warning. After all, Western Kentucky sacked A.J. McCarron six times in last week's win by the Tide. That's six times in one game, after Alabama had only given up seven sacks all of last season. So maybe FAU has a shot against us. Or maybe...
Maybe, just maybe, Alabama isn't as invincible as everyone likes to think. Maybe, if we were matched up with 'Bama, our Old Man Football defense might be able to get to McCarron and wreak havoc in the Tide's backfield. Maybe, after LSU's suspensions, dismissals and injuries, after Arkansas' embarrassment against La.-Monroe, after the sack-fest WKU laid on Alabama, maybe the SEC West isn't as scary as we thought it was. Maybe it's okay to imagine a date in Atlanta come December, with an undefeated season and a national championship on the horizon.
Not that we should look past FAU, or anyone else on the schedule for that matter. There's still SCarolina to worry about, and the deity-cursed Gators in October. Tennessee is better than anyone expected them to be, and they may just beat Florida tomorrow. And who the hell ever knows what's going to happen against Auburn? Still...something that seemed like a "maybe if we get lucky, 'Bama will lose a game and we'll get to play LSU or Arkansas if we make Atlanta" has turned into "By God, if we stay healthy, if Aaron Murray can take the poise he displays in the fourth quarter and stretch it over the other three, if our receivers will finally start catching balls, if Jarvis Jones stays a starving hungry rabid Dawg, and if we keep playing Old Man Ball, maybe it won't matter who we play in the SEC Championship.
Maybe, just maybe, these Dawgs can hang with any damn body in the country.

We've only won two games.
Love your take and enthusiasm.
BAMA is for real....so is LSU....best OL/DL's in the country.

dapolla, forgive me if I'm reading you wrong, but I think I get your point. It wasn't THAT long ago that 'Bama . . . well . . . for lack of a better word . . . sucked. Saban's first year was something like 6-6, and that was after YEARS of . . . again, for lack of a better word . . . "suckitude". And during those years, we languished in the TOUGHEST DIVISION in the SEC - the EAST! Things have flipped, and NOBODY saw that flip coming.
There is GOING to be a day when it flips again . . . not IF, but WHEN. When that happens, it will most likely start in a subtle way . . . like a QB being harassed more than expected. Like suspensions and injuries causing an unexpected loss. Things like that, that affect recruiting.
Anyway, I agree with wlayton. Bama and LSU are for real until proven otherwise, and so far ain't nobody, including us, done that. But as dapolla says, maybe . . . just MAYBE . . .
[Edit: HOPE . . . isn't that what makes college football so much fun? That, and winning CHAMPIONSHIPS?]

Yep thriller!....I'm all for "maybe" this year...we'll see.
BAMA and LSU's offensive and defensive lines are for real.....best in the country imo and that is what wins championships. Our DL stacks up with them but not even CLOSE with our........(try to guess).

There will be a day when it "flips" again, but that day will probably be after Satan leaves
'Bama.
I have little doubt we will win this game, but I want to win it handily. I know a
win is a win is a win, but lackluster performances against teams we should trounce
can end up hurting us in this system which still uses team "ranking" to determine
some of the post season matchups.
