From Athens- Game Day Friday # 1

Good Morning All

A word of thought and prayers for those who are dealing with the mess of Issac this weekend.

Mother Nature can be cruel at times.

Game Day Friday # 1

Damn if those words don’t just feel great to say and hear.

We know that this game is a cupcake paid practice for us. Knock the rust off and learn to stay focused on the job at hand. Winning!

Our Coaches have the team grounded I don’t sense that this will be a case of us overlooking Buffalo while thinking about next week and Mizzo.

In 2007 Michigan took Appy State lightly and got their plow cleaned at the Big House.

Not a way you wish to start a season.

I sense that the Dawgs will make a statement and start changing the on the field conversation to their favor.

The past is just that, we need to take care of the present while preparing for the future.

While having a cup of coffee this week with one of the local campus roosters I came away with the following.

This group of Dawgs:

Like and respect each other. Enjoy playing for their coaches and fans-also the fun factor is at a high level.

Understand teamwork-the big headed me first group has left the building- Amen

Grasp that it takes hard work in the weight room and on the practice field to improve –which they have done and continue to do with each practice

Coaches pushing players to get better and calling them out when needed-coaching them up

Players and coaches understanding the time for excuses is over-long over and history- I think it was our AD as much as anyone for making this change happen. Thank You Mac

And to me the most important, our players have both pride and passion for wearing the “G” on their helmets. They are here in Athens because they want to be. A very good thing!

IMO we can make the score anything we want in this game

Must important that we don’t get anybody injured and not available for week two-play a bunch of people.

I don’t think we will see they complete playbook. Both CTG and CMB want to save some tricks for Mizzo

What we will see is football being played back between the hedges-Love that the wait is over

We may miss a sellout but those who attend will make Sanford rock

Saturday in Athens and the Dawgs are home-life is good

The boys of the South will “Go Boom” for sure.

The Chapel -bell will ring and it’s good to be a Dawg on Saturday night after a win. Sure a win over a ranked team is sweeter, however in the grind of season a “W” trumps a “L” always.

Being that this is the first game of the season Georgia and I will have to pace ourselves with our game time treats.

Saturday night offers some interesting games as well. We need to save something for game two!

Good morning to you YD1. The long awaited weekend is here. Time to get serious about this football team. Time to focus on the task at hand. Personally, I am looking at a few areas with great interest. I will be watching our O line, DBs, RBs, and receivers.

I expect a win, but as you pointed out App St. is the example of what happens when you lack concentration and forget what you learned and practiced all pre-season.

Best we can hope for is solid execution. Get in there take care of business and get out quickly. Hopefully with no injuries. We will need everyone next week for sure.

I've got my fall beers in the fridge. I'm wearing my "G" red t-shirt and black gym shorts. Watched the Dandy Commodes nearly pull one off against the 'Cocks. (There is no excuse for not winning the east this year.) Just finished reading another great Friday post by yd1.

This weekend I'm not going to get too bent out of shape if we stay vanilla and just tote that rock right at the yankees. Ram it down their throats - something huge is going to break eventually. I won't gripe about the play calling until next week. No injuries. No suspensions. Put away the bongs. Focus.

yankeedawg1, can feel your emotions through your threads, that is a good thing.

The more I monitor the attitude of the football team, the more I see change from the past. McGarity caught someones attention a while back, and I for one like what I see. Athletic Director said plain and simply, you coach, I take care of the other things. No distractions, it all about leadership and proving ones worth in their area of expertise.

yd1 know that "Georgia" must be doing "high five paws" with the announcement that McGarity made concerning "Russ" . . . excuse me "UGA IX". This Dawg will always be "Russ" to me. Another good move by the Irishman.

First things first yd1......I'll take that 1st round, thank you.

Great post today, really has got everyone pumped for tomorrow.

Don't have to worry about Buffalo anymore, their LB is suspended (ok, just kidding ).

As said before by thriller and others, the coach's plan will surely be simple, un-revealing and straight forward this week with the idea to get a big lead and play everybody they can. I don't care if it is Buffalo, I'm watching that OL.....if we can get a great "push" on them, I will be concerned. Really looking forward to seeing KM, KM and Gurley.

Should be fun to watch and relaxing to watch.....something to be said for that, I know my wife will agree.

Thanks again yd1....I've got the 2nd and 3rd rounds with a few treats for Georgia as well.
