From Athens-Our waiting is almost over

Spent time trolling the other board and found these words to share on a Friday.

I am sure that some of you have run across them also.

We seem to practice like we're mad," senior Cornelius Washington said. "We come out and talk about it in every meeting. We talk about coming out and dominating.

We want to come out and be aggressive. We want to come out and be mean, and basically make people quit. We want people to hate playing us. That's the way we try to practice."

As a defensive player, a defensive guy, you've got to walk with a chip," Jenkins said. "You've got to walk with that angry mindset."

Jenkins appears to certainly have that.

"I've got to be because this is my last season. The things, the impact that this could have on my future … when I lining up against the men in front of me, if he beats me, he takes - you know, things that I need for my future.

He takes food off the table for my family," Jenkins said. "That's how I think when I'm out there at
practice - I can't be blocked, I won't be blocked, you know? That's the kind of mindset that I have.

I'm not going to let people take food from me."

As for Jenkins, he's ready to prove just how impressive a player he can.

"I used to get a lot of trash, especially the single-digit things. But you know, after they get thrown back a few times, it was closed eyes and a closed mouth," he said. "This year, I know I've got to be that much more dominant because I know the game, I know what to expect, and like I said it's my last year and this is it."

Several times over the past 8 months I spoke here about how both the players and coaches have felt after losing the last two games this past season.

I also have spoken how CTG has been using these feelings as teaching tools. It seems to me that it has stuck with the players. A very good thing

There are several things that to me would be a death wish, taking food from JJ family ranks near the top of my list.

Player speak as been low this pre-season which is a good thing-but this is the type of things I want to here.

Mean, angry and a bust ass attitude on every play with no regrets.

Having said all this I think like myself the players and coaches all know that there is but only one way to change the conversation and that is on the field. Just win baby !

This defense knows how good it is and wants to get better. CTG will keep them grounded and focused.

We have learned that if you have a big head around CTG he will waste no time in handing it to you on a platter.

We have spoken about how CTG “tude” has carried over into other areas of our football team. The remaking of CMR the past two seasons is a good example.

Prior to the arrival of CTG would CMR called JR as he did last week for his work ethic? IMO which was needed.

It has been missed with several other players during previous seasons.

Buc you spoke of swing passes to backs this week. Seems Marshall did just that in Wednesday’s scout game for a TD.

Those who were at this year’s G-game like myself saw swing passes to backs made by both teams. Seems like 6 or 7

It was touched on here that it could be a forecast of good things to come.

I like it, get the back out in space, get the ball out of AM’s hands quickly and the line does not have to hold blocks for an extended period of time. Sweet

IMO it will be in our playbook. Give the Ole Ball Sac just one more thing to think about.

Damn if it is not but one week to kickoff.

Sorry to see summer coming to an end, but I am so ready for some college football.

Good Morning yankeedawg1. Loved reading this mornings "Blue Plate Special". You touched on several things that some on this board have had concerns about.

WoodstockDawg has for some time now pushed for a return to using our fullback and tighends. Also a believer in the swing pass. He posted in another thread yesterday what his game plan would look like, impressive to say the least.

ogredawg gave us much information on John Jenkins prior to him wearing the Red and Black. Told us to get ready, the "Man" was heading to Athens and he would make all of us proud. Reading the above remarks from Jenkins verifies that ogredawg knew of what he spoke.

Really glad that you were witness to the play calling in the G Day Game. Time for a return to the winning formulas . . . . especially with the speed and depth of the offensive backs. Really looking forward to some good hard nosed in your face fullback action.

Gonna stop, cup of coffee has the old fart wound up this morning, my 72nd year on Earth today. Present to myself was a delivery of Green Sweet Ga. Runner Peanuts - 1 bushel. Lots of boiling ahead, also many bags in the freezer to enjoy along with UGA victories this season.

High five paws to Georgia, feel sure there are many treats in her future.
