ogredawg, we are surrounded by the enemy . . . . too many years have passed and in my mind too many concessions have been made by those in Athens.

For the last couple of years on this board there have been a few that recognize there is a problem (again) in Athens. While we have had several coaches since our last National Championship, I have noticed that there are those that are willing to accept certain standards.

Alabama went through the same process. Had several coaches come and go but the fan base was not willing to go along with the results. The fan base drove the administration to the edge, demanded that changes be made and bring football back to Tuscaloosa. Anyone that thinks that the fan base was not the reason that Saban is coaching in Tuscaloosa, you have to be on the same page with President Adams and others, 10 wins on occasion will satisfy the fan base in their minds.

Bothers me a bit when I read some of the posts on this board that want to tell many of us how lucky we are to have our present coaches and administration. I know that I am not the only one that feels that we are receptive, that allows me to think that I am not totally off base.

Another thorn in my side is the constant chatter about what a good man Mark Richt is. I know that Mark Richt is a good man, I also know that he is playing a game with the University of Georgia, and Adams is all for it. The game is simply this . . . . Mark Richt is a good front man, he is not a x's and o's man anymore. If I am wrong on that point, someone has to explain to me the decline in our football team. Anyone want to talk about the ten wins, willing to do that. Let's also discuss the four losses. Willing to do that. Why is it the defensive side of the ball has resurrected itself in two years, going into the third year, not 11 years. Can you hear me?

ogredawg, you made some very good points in another thread today, most of what I gathered was all of us need to understand football, not promote the same talk that we have read over and over, not only on this board, but others as well. I appreciate the fact that you have your sights set high.

Go Dawgs, coach'em up, or find someone than can. Alabama did.

Buc, Bear Bryant was an alcoholic.
He had an immeasurable positive influence on many young men.
Let's not forget the courage it took to integrate Alabama football.
Alabama people are scared to death of what Georgia Football COULD be.
Recruit 'em up, Coach 'em up.
Todd Grantham has.

averagedawg, you are so on target.

Think I have mentioned this before, will do it again after many years. My Father-in-Law, Dr. Fred Quenzer not only applied his profession to students that did not play football, he was a part of Bear Bryant's staff that helped keep his football team in good shape. Having an in-law like this allowed me and my family to view any of the sports played on campus.

Hope this does not strike a chord with any on this site or any other site. Bear Bryant took a white football team to play Southern California in the early 1960's. Southern Cal kicked Alabama's butt. When the football team returned to Tuscaloosa, the one comment that Bear Bryant made was this . . . . I want some of them, meaning Black Football Players. Alabama football changed after that, check the records folks.

This is why some of us older UGA folks are here, we have memories of times past and don't want to relive the BS that was going on then. When you see some of the things that I have to say about the present administration and football coaches, it is not because I don't like them, it is called "history". I have been around this program for a long time and it is like playing the same 45 or cd or whatever over and over, it is the same. Do some of you get my drift? ogredawg and averagedawg understand some of this.
