Furman Bisher was created by Buc
Know that most of you will read this elsewhere, just wanted to say I grew up with Furman Bisher and Jesse Outlar in my younger days in and around Atlanta. God speed Furman Bisher. He was truly a Southern Gentleman.

Hi Buc: Furman was a great writer. He & I arrived in Georgia the same year, 1950. Do you remember Ed Danford? All Dawgs called him Ed Techford, a real tech booster. I'll miss his Thanksgiving Day message on what he was thankfull for, also his great coverage of the Masters. Are you curious about our spring ball as much as I am? Hope so!
As always, GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Always say this and mean it DawgDoc, so glad that you are here with us.

Ed Danforth was big on Tech back in those days as were many of the fans when Bobby Dodd was running the program. As a UGA man, I had and still have great respect for Coach Dodd. On top of that, best I remember, Coach Dodd was a Tennessee graduate. Sometimes we have to forget the colors that these young men wear and look a bit deeper.

With Outlar and Bisher, I was truthfully a Jesse follower, second came Furman. Have not seen the same reporting that can match those two for the length of time that both were writing for the two editions at that time. Constitution (morning edition) and Journal (evening edition). See and read a lot of garbage and occasionally a good piece written these days, I do however recognize that times change. Internet has made most of us think that we are bigger and smarter than we actually are.

Doc, there is a member on this board that is very close to the football team that shares things with me, and it is interesting that you ask the question about Spring Football. Apparently the entire football team knows that this is the year that there will be incredible competition. Athens has the talent and some very good coaches and I believe that the young men wearing the Red and Black are on a mission. Barring injuries, this is not a team that I would want on my schedule.

Doc, good to hear from you, come back and stay a while, or poke your head up when it suits you. For sure you were one of the building blocks of this board and it is known by some. :)

DawgDoc, you got this old fart to thinking. If you have not seen this video, I feel sure you will enjoy it, matter of fact, would love to see Steve put this up for all to see. Some of the younger folks might want to take a few minutes and take in some UGA history.

Sometimes when we have a feeling so deep, want to share it with others, others that claim to be or want to be a part of the University of Georgia, clips like this have to be or should be "shared".

Going to ask one thing from all on this board, especially the folks that post new threads and truly want to know the "full University of Georgia History in Sports" to come up and give a simple "click". If you don't have the time for that, I understand, and so do you.

His name is Daniel Hamilton "Dan" Magill, Jr. What he has done in his lifetime shows all of us what true comittment truly is. I would like for those of you that go through this entire link to come back and say just this . . . . I watched Dan Magill from start to finish. There will not be a test, this is based on honesty. :)

It is a long interview, however if you think you understand UGA Sports, this might open your eyes a bit further.

DawgDoc, again thanks, moved me back into the past. That ain't bad Brother . . . . :)

The link is posted above.

DawgDoc, I also remember when I first came to this board several years ago that you were over 10,000 posts. :)
