From Athens- Sharing

From Athens- Sharing was created by yankeedawg1
Good Morning,

I spent the first part of the week in Raleigh at our annual company training conference.

This is for the SE region of our company.

I enjoyed our after hours brew and brag sessions with my co-workers from AL,TN,MS,SC and FL.

AL rep was from our Tuscaloosa office and was first time back after last year’s tornado. “Roll Tide” I was happy they beat the bayou snakes.

Like we have spoke of here many times your defense wins championships.

NC or SEC you can’t win without a strong “D”.

The wish from this group was for CTG to get a HC job and leave Athens before the week is out.

In this groups mind CTG currently is the most feared coach in the SEC not for what he has done but for what he doing and what the future of the Dawg defense will look like in the coming years if he stays.

My buddy from AL said all you need to do is watch the first half of the SECCG and you will see into the future.

His take CTG will have the depth this year to play the entire game without running out of gas.

There were sad faces from the Knoxville & Gainesville group they still feel lost in the woods and don’t have the coaches to lead them out.

It was fun hearing from other fans about how the view the Dawgs.

Pause and give thanks

Have a great weekend and a safe week.

As always “Go Dawgs”!

Go Dawgs!

yankeedawg1, it is good to see that others outside our "loop" recognize what we have in CTG.

I very much appreciate the fact that Jarvis had a sit down with Richt and soon after committing became a true follower of Grantham.

Another thing that is mentioned, not often, but mentioned is the fact that Grantham is a "family" man. Big burly bear of a man is as gentle as a lamb when it comes to children and youthful persons.

Jarvis came and played with the "get the team prepared for game day squad" for a year, and listened intently to Grantham. In my opinion, getting Jarvis was as big an accomplishment as has been achieved in Athens recently. A leader learning from a leader. Much is accomplished when the right ingredients go into the soup. Tastes so much better.

There is not a doubt in my mind that Grantham could have had a head coaching job had he pursued one. Another plus when I grade the man. He is about keeping his word and commitment is a huge part of his makeup. I will always believe that he had a lot to do with keeping the group together when he came out publicly and said he belongs to Athens. Let's face it, those were some shaky times at best. Grantham is a "company man".

Very easy for me to get off on a tangent when discussing Grantham, I admire backbone. Remember when we had the same type defensive coordinator in Athens that had the same qualities.

yankeedawg1, it is going to be a very interesting season, and just after the season is over, I am very curious what the 2013 group will look like when the wraps go on.

If things go as many think they will, "Georgia" might have to watch that waistline.

Have a great weekend, and remember those making the ultimate sacrifice for us. . . . :)

yd1...I'll bet your chest had never stuck out as far as it was sticking out during the "after hours" cool ones and SEC talk. I'm sure you enjoyed talking to the UT and UF fans especially.....they should have bought the beers for everyone....no, dinner too.

Guess not much "ball speak" going on right now in Athens but probably great anticipation for Spring Camp coming up. Keep us informed and ears to the ground during those weeks.

Have a great weekend yd1 and as always, thanks for the Friday post....always enjoyable. B)

Buc,

You are so correct about thanking those who serve our country. Going on this trip and seeing so many in uniform at the airport gave me a chance to give out "Thank Yous" in person.

Mayor... you are correct quite in Athens..good thing. I was driving by the B-M bldg and it like a transformer farm. Just a dull humming of power coming on line.

Lots of chatter about who will play were, I like the idea of Drew moving to DE and getting on the field.

Going to be a terror.... still like us to be the Beast of the East. Go Dawgs

I'm feeling better each week for this upcoming season for the Dawgs. Hearing how other SEC teams’ fans feel about the Dawgs D. If the fans feel this way, you know some of the other SEC teams are feeling this way also.

Grantham and his defense coaches will be coaching the Dawgs up and ready. Just hope the offence will be ready!!!
