Georgia . . . Michigan State

Guessing that lots of folks on this board are watching their favorite pro team or getting ready to watch their team play. Good luck on who ever your pro team happens to be.

Some of you know that I spend a lot of time looking around the internet, trying to find an interesting piece or two for this board.

Watched the Auburn/Virginia game last night and the way it started, thought maybe the Tigers were in for a long night . . . . again. At the end of the game, think what I saw was the difference between some teams playing in different conferences. Once Auburn got the momentum along with some really innovative play calling, the SEC took over. Virginia was no patty cake, those guys played hard, and on occasion maybe a bit chippy. Auburn knows all about the "chippy" type of football game, just ask AM. Big win for Auburn and same applies to the SEC.

According to which site you go to, seems most think that the game tomorrow between Georgia and Michigan State is going to be a game that "boys" don't want to participate in. Tough guys, both sides of the ball, both teams both sides of the ball. Won't be any backing down on either side. For me, my kind of game.

I have tried to figure out why the majority think that Georgia will win from a low of 3 to a high of around 14. The "majority" seems to be split on what part of the country one resides. Has it ever been any different . . . nope. Michigan State, especially their Seniors are going to the wall this game.

Think I see it this way. If Georgia's special teams come up short on all around play, Spartans could win this game based on that portion of the overall play. Coming from me, nothing that has not been said over and over by those far more knowledgable. I watched the last few games that we played, using players that normally would not play on kickoffs. Might have improved a bit, but not overwhelming. Sure hope that Richt can focus more on that part of the game next season now that he is primarily coaching football again. That is not a slap at Richt, he knew, McGarity knew as did others, had to get Richt focused on his primary job, coaching UGA/SEC football.

Michigan State does not have the overall speed that UGA does, but not all of the Spartans are slow, several of their key players can haul. Anytime we face a quarterback that has talent, above average talent and has experience, quarterback is a Senior, something to worry about. Speaking for myself. Opening game of the season we faced an experienced quarterback from Boise State and he did not make many mistakes. Experience.

Hoping to see a good UGA football team that made its way to Tampa to play football for four quarters. If we get the lead hope that our coaches forget friendships and go for the jugular. Losing would be one thing, losing like we did in Memphis will not compute. We have had a serious amount of time to watch film, and according to the reports from the media and Richt, practices have been intense. If they are better than we are, can't do anything about that.

Winding down on this long winded thread. Malzahn showed many of us just what can be accomplished with play calling, with three (3) different quarterbacks at the helm. Richt came to UGA after serving under Bobby Bowden as offensive coordinator, along with that came a championship. Bobo has studied under Richt for some time. This is where the rubber meets the road. We have receiving talent, running backs we will see. Offensive line can grow leaps and bounds if they are able to do their job. AM, be smart, don't try and win this game by yourself in front of many home town fans, and there will be many in Raymond James. Thousands.

Special teams do their job . . . . UGA by . . . . . 21.

I think this game is huge for recruiting, especially with the SEC expanding and UT and UF being down. Let's lock up another 11 win season for the CMR era.

kentdaddy, UGAChemDawg, on board with you folks. Also agree that we have what is known and accepted as "recruiting specialists" at UGA. Win this game and we can tag the recruiting effort by any name, "Dream Team" etc. Believe that there are a couple out there that might leave a more successful college football school that have commited and place their lot with Georgia. Not going to call Bama by name . . . . :)

Read the article about "Bean" and how he grew up under Friend. Speaks well for our new offensive line coach. Looking for a big game from Justin Anderson today. Last time wearing the Red and Black before moving on. In my mind another case of coaching instability in Athens for the largest portion of his career. Looking for some running yards on the right side of our offensive line today. Give'um hell "Bean". :)

Edit:
stanger, those "butterflies" can also be a very good thing. Once AM gets a lick or two under his belt, should be ready to get on with "Dawg Business". I would be more worried if AM did not have that "anticipation" building up in his system. Truthfully, think that AM goes through that before every game, know that he had some of those tendencies when playing at Plant. :)
