What I Want to Know About the SEC Championship Gam

Quick question: Who went into this game actually believing that we were going to win it? I went in knowing that we were probably going to lose but also knowing that we had a REALLY good shot at winning. I was proven right. Have you stopped to think that maybe LSU really is that damn good?

Personally, I'm ecstatic about where we are right now. SEC East Champs, and we didn't backdoor our way in, we WON our way in. 10-win season. 10-game win streak. We're going to play in either the Capital One Bowl against Michigan State or in the Cotton Bowl against Oklahoma. Not too freaking bad.

One thing we've neglected to talk about is the fact that Les Miles was severely outcoached throughout the first half. It wasn't Mark Richt or Mike Bobo who dropped 5 passes. We sliced our way through the LSU defense for 30 minutes. We provided a damn good blueprint for how to beat the Tigers. Malcolm Mitchell, Michael Bennett and Tavarres King might not sleep so well for the next few weeks, but our OC did a great job for the first half.

The thing is, what everyone's been saying all this year is true: LSU really is that much better than everybody else in the country. Any voter with a conscience would have had LSU #1 after the first weekend of the season; I said that now and I'll say it again. Did we lay down and die in the second half? No. Their athletes are just better than ours. It's not coaching. It's personnel. They're just better.

Meanwhile, we have had a damn good year. After starting off 0-2 and 0-1 in the conference, we had our first 10-game winning streak in 29 years. We beat all four major rivals (UT, UF, AU and GT) in the same season for the first time in 29 years. We won our division outright. For a half, we shut down maybe the best team to come along in ten years; held them to 33 total offensive yards. And we did it all with a really young team. As excited and proud as I am about this season, I'm even more excited about next season.

Let's go win our bowl game. Let's do our job. Go Dawgs.

We had our chances, played a great first half, players just didn't execute.
We were outmanned, went into a firefight with cap guns.
Alabama is just as good as LSU, should have beat LSU.
We had a good year. Congrats to the coaches.
Having said that we are being out recruited. Recruiting never stops. You evaluate these kids from when they are sophomores in high school. It is a 365 day a year job. I don't want to offend anybody but I don't see Coach Richt in the same class as Miles or Saban when it comes to recruiting. It doesn't take a genius to figure that one out.

Did I also mention that we beat two teams in the top 25; the same number as Alabama? Also, we ended a two-year winless streak against ranked opponents. It was a good year that had the potential to be great. And that's all it was. Go Dawgs.

1. we are two years away.....reason?
2. we need 2-3 really good, BIG, RB's.......Crowell either needs to get his act together or leave Athens
3. we need much more depth on OL
4. we need more toughness is some areas.....OL (run blocking especially) and CB's
5. we need ST's coach
6. LSU and BAMA will dominate again next year (also believe in a rematch, LSU beats BAMA by 10+)

Even though, imo, we are 2 years away from being at LSU and BAMA's level, we can still win the East again next year and also believe we should "take over" the East in the process. The pieces of the puzzle are coming together, just need a few critical pieces to complete.

Congrats on an overall good year.....finish out the year with a good bowl win.....and look forward to building on a 11-3 record next year with so many players coming back and hopefully a great recruiting class INCLUDING a couple of young men from North Carolina.

I'm hopeful that we'll win every time we hit the field. Even here, I knew we COULD have done it, but the problem is that too many stars would have had to be in perfect alignment.

Damned good first half, really. Yeah, some of our pups dropped balls, and we could have easily jumped up by two, maybe three tds. I'm not sure if that would have been enough, but I saw character and heart in this team. This team, that is, except IC. IC is a p#$%y. He has neither the character or the toughness to play in SEC ball games and as soon as we can find a decent replacement I'll say good riddance to this waste of time and energy...meh.

Yeah, we got slobknockered in the second half, but I'm proud of the way the team came to play. They didn't cave to the mighty tigers. They played like they expected to be in it. Hats off to LSU, though. This is a damned good team. Probably will go down as historically one of the best to hit the field, so all in all, I think the outcome was fair.

After last year, this year feels like paradise. I'll take the 10 wins (say what you will of the schedule.) I'll take the bowl in Florida too...hopefully some of you will make it. Proud of these Dawgs...yep.
