\"Other\" Dawg Sports

Just some updates on those \"other\" sports at UGA.

The Lady Net Dawgs clinched the regular season SEC Tennis Championship by defeating the Lady Vols over the weekend.

The Gym Dawgs won the North Central regional and will make their 25th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championship Meet. They're going for their third straight NC, something that hasn't been accomplished since Utah won 5 straight in the 1980s.

The Net Dawgs completed their second consecutive (!) undefeated regular season this year, finishing as SEC Champs and the #1 overall tennis team in America.

Threepeating Southern Equestrian Champs (equivalent of the SEC in Equestrian) Riding Dawgs compete at the EQ NCs this Wednesday.

The Diamond Dawgs, unfortunately, continue to suck on toast.

The Men's and Women's Tennis teams won their respective SEC Tournaments this weekend, and the Lady Golf Dawgs won the SEC Championship, completing a wire-to-wire championship season.

How can you be so good, only to be so bad the next season? Its unbeleivable....

But it's the norm. Remember, in 2004 we went to the CWS, then sucked out loud in 2005. Then in 2006 we were a sweep of Kentucky away from splitting the SEC with Alabama and went to the CWS. It's like every other year Perno puts a quality product on the field, only to follow it with sewer-worthy bottom-feeders the following year. Often, it's the same talent. My major problems with the team (other than it sucking) are:

1) Our All-American closer, Joshua Fields, has completely LOST HIS MIND.
2) Jonathan Wyatt is having a fantastic year as a senior, but nothing's coming of it.

Yeesh. But at least we can look forward to another SEC Championship and CWS appearance in 2008....
