A Question

Folks, couple of questions I have wanted to ask the last couple of days, or weeks.

Jay Rome is going to play basketball this season.

Jay Rome was rated as the best tight end in the country, or very close by most “experts”.

Jay thought he was going to play this year, not redshirt.

Had some problems the last couple of weeks with not playing.

We have a converted tight end playing fullback.

We have two superior tight ends as pass catchers and blockers. What is the game plan for White and Charles? They are not being used as they should be. My opinion. If AM can’t figure out the different speed of the receivers running post patterns, maybe the calls should be a bit closer to the line of scrimmage.

We have one tight end that is primarily a blocker.

Makes me wonder why we are so deep at tight end and cutting it so close on the offensive line.

Understand that we don’t want any of our 4/5 star athletes getting away, say moving over the state lines.

Why and how does this staff come up with players that somehow either sit on the bench or they wear the redshirt. I do understand redshirting, just somehow sticks in my craw when I look at some of the players that we have used the redshirt on. Don’t have to throw players names out here, we know who they are and were.

Grantham came to town and put the professional touch on this UGA football team. One only needs to look at the defense then take a look at the offense. Which side of the line to this point has been “most” responsible for the wins that we have?

The single largest change in UGA football happened when Richt corrected a coaching mistake. WM was sent packing. We all know how long that took.

Yankeedawg1 pointed out something in his thread today that I had not noticed. That is easy enough to do. Made mention of Bobo not wearing the head phones, while Richt was I suppose. Richt also had to give approval for Bobo to run the play he wanted after halftime, according to Richt in his presser. Think that Richt said there was some discussion going on about what play to run, Richt said he agreed with Bobo’s call. What is wrong with that picture, simply the offensive coordinator should make that call without the supporting cast questioning it to the point that the Head Coach had to step in. Just my thought.

Coming from this corner, said before the first game was played that I was going to look and if need be question some of the goings on. I question the leadership of this team. Unless I am wrong, McGarity has some of the same thoughts.

I took one player that committed to UGA and tried to make a simple case for the way I feel. I could do several more. Meaning Jay Rome above.

This is not all about Bobo, it is about the University of Georgia and where we are and where we are going. With the caliber of players that we have and that has always been pretty good, why are we in this mess. Mess meaning, our Head Coach is an ex-quarterback and his right hand man played the same position. Which side of the ball is falling behind or is behind. Did Grantham do in his second year what Richt has failed to do in the past five years?

I know this, at some point there will be a change. That will be McGarity’s final say, but it will be because Richt used the same game plan that he used with Willie.

I pull for UGA always, have concerns when I see my program sink like it has recently. Been around UGA football for a long time, I reserved the right to expect more. Yes I do know that there were many bad/awful years in the past, did not accept that either. Have voiced my opinion more than once about a certain coach.

Buc, Grantham leads.
There is a big difference between leading and reacting.

Buc, your very good post brought up a couple of thoughts.

1. lousy OL recruiting AND/OR we just "missed" on some of them.....they weren't as good as we thought etc
2. To me, it is a very nice problem to have so much great talent in a certain position that you almost HAVE to redshirt one of them......can be dangerous in losing one though. Maybe one or two less TE's and 2 more OL??
3. One small reason some of the TE's in the game aren't being visible is because CMR needs MAXIMUM protection for AM for certain pass patterns called. Just a thought.
4. I'm probably wrong but my understanding of the Bobo/CMR conversation on that pass play to MM was that since they were backed up inside the 10 yard line, Bobo just wasn't quiet sure whether he wanted or needed to take a chance on that call. CMR encouraged him to make it if he thought the play was there. To me, it was a good sign because he was considering staying conservative (as usual) but actually went for it aggressively. That was a good sign for me that they did pull the trigger.
5. Bobo Gotta Go Go still has to go go though.
