Yes he does deserve some time to get everyone up to speed on his schemes, but everyone including
the coaching staff keeps talking about a lack of depth as the biggest issue. I am much less
generous with saying CMR et al deserve time to build depth. I've said all along that if you
went into any of the past 3 seasons depending on Sturdivant to stay healthy in order to have
depth.. you're a doggone fool. With proper recruiting at a school like UGA, you should always
have some depth, and this team has been thin at the O-line for forever.
Plus it seems to always be something with this regime. We had to give Richt time to see the
truth about WM.. he never did and finally had to be forced to get rid of him. So then we
had to give Grantham "time". Now we apparently have to give Bobo "time" to learn on the job
and become a halfway decent OC. We've done that with little progress. So if CMR goes out and
hires a new OC, we're going to have to give him "time" to install his offense and get everyone
up to speed. We also have to give the new line coach "time". If AM plays all 4 years, a couple of
years from now we'll have to give a new QB "time". We've got to give IC some "time" to fully
develop.
While there might be some truth to the "time" issue, it can also be seen as just another excuse
from a regime that always has a ton of excuses for underachieving.
CMR has been here for a decade. He hired WM and stuck with him... if he would have done what needed to be done when it needed to be done then out D problems might have had enough time to be fixed by 2009. The O-line coach left.. I get it. Maybe hiring someone that ran a similar scheme to the previous coach might have been a better idea, because time isn't a luxury I think Richt can
afford.
At some point, someone's going to say... "time's up".
God Bless and Go Dawgs
