that DJ Shockley will be the player with the most impressive stats. Yes, I'm well aware of his past record, as well as the vitrol being spewed from rivals and writers based on same. However,...think about this. David Greene, while cool headed and methodical as he was, was absolutely NO threat to run. DG was a pure pocket passer and the O line was built, established, practiced and experienced in that type of protection. Now, imagine you are a swift, less experienced but certainly talented QB who DOES pose a running threat. All your years of Rec. and H.S. ball, along with that inate sense to be fleet of foot tells you to break camp once the protection fails and run. That would work great.....as long as the O line that was meant to protect you was likewise in tune with this sense.

This is what DJ faced throughout last season and the season before that! Lest we forget that often DJ was pressed into play as a result of a DG injury. Nothing like having 90,000 screaming LSU fans in your ear, deep in your own territory, without the protection YOU need AND expected to work miracles!...Yeah, DJ had some bad days, last years NAT experience comes to mind, but so did David Greene! I truly believe that we will see a completely different DJ.

Remember, DJ fits the "mold" of the CMR QB moreso that David Greene. Likewise, DJ has stuck it out, rode the pine and has waited for this opportunity. The kid has class, talent, the heart of a true competitor and completely believes in the team.

Yep, my money is on DJ, over any frosh or second year starter! We get to see the type of O CMR likes to run, with an equally talented QB. A steady, healthy dose of the EXTREMELY dangerous RB's will open up throwing lanes, or options for DJ to tuck and run. I expect a monster year and one well deserved for a young man that has given several years of waiting for one season in the sun!

GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe that UGA will surprise the heck out of the SEC this year. I'm kind of glad that most have counted us out so we don't have that target around our neck like last year. We have an O Line that is second to none, running backs that can haul the mail, a QB that is athletic, can run or throw. Our defense has folks that can get the job done. Just like other years when we graduated folks like the Hoages, Baileys, Scotts, Belues, we had talent to take their places. We still have that. WE have in my humble opinion one of the best head coaches in the nation, so the leadership is in place. I would not be surprised to see us in the hunt for the title this year too. Been chasing these DAWGS for over 40 years ( From SEA, to Germany, to West Coast, never faultered to support the dawgs, sometimes was pretty tough to get the news from UGA) and am so glad I'm a DAWG. I support CMR his staff and the TEAM. Watch out SEC, HERE COMES THE BIG DAWG!!!!!!

Another subject that baffles the heck out of me, and maybe some who have been around longer than I can answer. When I read some of the "stuff" from the Banner Herald chatty zone, I'm amazed at the position "so called" DAWG fans express related to CMR, the team, and players in particular. Are these people really DAWG fans or just wanna bes? I truly love UGA and am so proud of the wonderful people that have passed through its halls. To see some of the "trash" talk that goes on is really a mystery to me. Maybe I'm just too old to understand that commitment, responsibility, and dedication are not what they used to be.

God bless all the DAWGS out there and win, lose, or draw...the only constant is that our school and fans are still the best. Go DAWGS!!!! :D

Oledawg,
Things ain't what they used to be. In this day of instant gratification at the drive through window, hundreds of channels of "reality" shows, newspeak and spin doctors mouthing off on "talk" (hate) radio and a leader who can not lead, it is no suprise that he tone of the football fan has hit the gutter. On some of the other boards the moderators let the contraversy build since it draws in viewers. It lowers the quality of discussion and that is about all it accomplishes. Kind of like presidental elections. Frankly, I do not need it.
This board is dedicated to wholesome college football and the only people welcome are tried and true dawg fans and rivals who can talk respectably and intelligently.
Hang in there, we will get our group back together as the season rolls on.
I am looking forward to seeing Shockley finally get to run his game and I have some hope that the dawgs will have a good season.
Go Dawgs,
steve

Ok, Shockley was the obvious choice...so how about other players that stood out...and what other players to you think will step it up with a big year?

Thanks Steve, I was wondering if the fans had changed with so much vile contempt and Monday morning Qbacking. To me its a slap in the face of all our supporters to see stuff that emerges from so called fans. 2 years ago I watched the famous VOL fans walk out on their team when they lost to UGA in Knoxville. Rather than make a bad situation worse for some of the good folk up here I just said I felt sorry for the team that when they needed the support most their fans had left. I hope we the Bulldog nation are never accused of that or even worse, like the alum and coaches from UF that sacked Hall and Pell. Will forever bleed red and black, GO :D :D DAWGS!!!
