This blog continues the series of updates on the 2008 recruiting outlook by position for Georgia. UGASports.com guru Chad Simmons will undoubtedly provide a plethora of additional profiles to the ones he already has up on 2008 Georgia football recruiting targets after the 2007 class signs its letters of intent on Feb. 7th.

• Projected 2008 TB Returnees: So. Caleb King, So. Knowshon Moreno, Sr. Thomas Brown (Note: Brown will only return for 2008 if he redshirts in 2007 while recovering from an ACL tear. His recovery status will not be know until August and the coaching staff's decision on Brown may depend on if King qualfies academically to play in 2007. Without King, Brown would likely suit up even if at only 90%.)

• Projected 2008 FB Returnees: Sr. Brannan Southerland, So. Fred Munzenmaier, So. Shaun Chapas, Jr. Tripp Taylor (walk-on)

• Likely UGA RB Signees (2-3)

• Class of 2008 Early Top UGA RB Targets: * Martin Ward, Chris Jordan (can also play LB), * Richard Samuel, Dontavius Jackson, Tauren Poole, Xavier Avery, Franklin Green, Brandon Davis.

• Synopsis: There is no instate superstar RB recruit next year, but their are probably 7-8 NCAA Division I-A TB prospects in the state. Georgia already has commitments from Ward and Samuel, although Samuel may end up at LB. Jordan, who moved to Tennessee from Norcross, would prefer to play TB, although he appears to be a better fit at linebacker than Samuel. I wish the Bulldogs would offer Jackson. He is a stud. Poole, who is a soft commitment to Tennessee, will also get a serious look by the Georgia coaching staff this summer and may switch if offered. Jordan could end up at fullback, although the Bulldogs will probably not sign a fullback in this class due to scholarship limitations unless a potential stud, like Brannan Southerland, emerges. In that case, Georgia would be a strong suitor for such a player, since the Bulldogs employ their fullbacks on more downs than most marquee teams and Southerland will be touted as the nation's best all-around fullback in 2008.

• Early 2008 UGA Projected Signees: Ward, Jordan (can also play LB and FB), Samuel (can also play LB)

UGA could end up having the 2008 #1 signing class in the country. They've had a tremendous start. Mark wraps up his class so early that recruiting guru's tend to forget the Dawgs by the time signing day gets here. To me that's irrelevant as long as we get the athletes, then they can show the country on the field who had the best class in '08.
