There was a lot of talk on a lot of boards prior to last season about Jakar "Hitman" Hamilton. I bought in, drank the kool aid and now I am beginning to think along the lines of what ogredawg mentioned at the beginning of Spring about our team.
Not hearing anything good about "Hitman". Some of us thought that Curry was going to come in and be a force on the D side of the ball. He has the size and with JTII working on his body, could have been a force. He wants to play offense, can't blame him for that if that is his choice. He won't go to the league playing offense. One mans opinion.
Second worry for me is Rambo. I have watched a lot of his assists, and they were not much more than hand touch after the tackle was made. Just looking at the replays and I am sorry, have to agree with others that the defensive backfield might be in need of "Dream Team" help.
Appears to me that the best defensive back that we recruited this year was Mitchell from Valdosta. Now he is going to the offensive side it appears and get lost in the Bobo forest. There is one damn football, and everyone on the O side is not going to get to touch the ball that many times.
Most seem to think that Crowell will be getting the pigskin more than any other on the O side. I agree, if IC has that much talent and can get the job done, why the hell do we need to keep trying to move these players to the offensive side. Mitchell for example is probably worth what . . . . several intercepts and untold coverages preventing TD's.
I would bet this. If he had signed with Saban, he would be right in the middle of learning how to be a Pro Bowl Defensive Back. That folks is why they will continue to win on the other side of the Chattahoochee.
The offensive side of this team is chasing its tail.
It will not surprise me if Rambo hits the bench or does not participate as much . . . . . unless he has "truly" gotten over the head problems. When the bell gets rung, damn hard to come back and be the same.
ogredawg, wlayton, the two of you predicted this as a position problem before practice started, you have a convert now. You two are dead on target from all I can read coming out of Athens. D line better get after the quarterback, don't like the long TD's we witnessed last season.
