Golf Dawgs Taken by Augusta State

Well I've been pulling for the Golf Dawgs today but they loose to Augusta State who have pulled a miracle repeat against teams that are the best.

Way to go Dawgs!

And Congrats to ASU!

gillette. National Championship and the two teams are from Georgia. Now, time to crank the other folks up and get down to business.

You guys know more about football than anyone I can even think of (and that's why I'm usually on the sideline reading what you say here) but there's one thing I know and that's GOLF.
The Dawgs have a lot to be proud of even though they came up just 1 shot short.
In the top 8 in the country after Friday, 3 teams from Georgia (one which I HATE was GT)are there.
Then, having UGA and ASU in the final 2 is nothing but CRAZY.
I have to hand it to ASU though. A golf program that has probaby 10% of funding that UGA, GT, OSU, FS, etc. and the list goes on is nothing but (again) CRAZY! And then to repeat! Holy Smokes!

I'm proud of the Dawgs and hopefully this is a trend that'll keep rolling through Dawg Nation.

Last year, the OSU coach said "Well the best team did not win this year" after ASU beat them for the NC. ASU beat them AGAIN to face the Dawgs for the NC. How about "IN YOUR FACE" on that one?

The sour part of us losing is having it come down to the last match and losing to an ex-dawg that couldn't follow the rules and was kicked off the team. Patrick has a lot of talent and could have been one great dawg but couldn't handle Athens and the drinking. In golf it's not about the budget really it's about practicing and good teaching. They are near sea island and one of the best practice facilities in the country. You watch how Match play will change the dynamics of college golf championships. anything with a playoff and that's what match play is can allow the smaller schools jump up and surprise people.

The guys played hard and have all season. They have a few pups that need to step up next year to fill the big shoes that are leaving. Look for a kid named Keith Mitchell to step up as a sophomore and play well next year. Two young freshman coming in could play right away too. This team could be right back in it next year.
