From Athens - Kinda sort of ?

Good Morning All,

Family has called me to make a road trip to the land of the much-hated Gators.

I am visiting my sister and her tribe in Green Cove Springs, FL land of industrial size mosquitoes.

Campus is still quite but we made the national news on Tuesday with the shooting of two Athens police officers one of which was fatal following a car jacking.

CMR shared his story of taking a trip to Jamaica this spring break with several of the coaches and families. Seems like they had all setup for a day at the beach and along comes two Gator fans and camped next to them.

To CMR’s rescue a group of Dawg fans showed up that out barked the Gator’s and their chomp. The Bulldog Nation covers the world. Woof Woof Woof !

After enjoying a couple of brews with the local reptiles it would appear that the hiring of WM as the new Gator coach was not the first choice of many. A great assistant coach does not always work out as a great HC. Whispers of falling back to the Zook era were spoke of. They are also not to keen on CW as the OC. His record as a HC at ND was less than glowing. I just love it when the Gator fans wrings their hands with worry!

Bleacher Reports has us at 8-4 for this coming year. Losses to BS,USC,UF and UT. It is just fine with me that nobody is giving us any respect. I can hear CJT and CTG shouting if you want to change the conversation it will take more than talk. If your not the lead dog on the sled then the view never changes. Get stronger, faster and bigger. Toss in a tad of meanness, add a dose of being mad as hell at being pissed on, and then commit to playing hard on every play. Always remember that you have been blessed with the opportunity to play college football, you have made the choice to play at Georgia. Now rise up and put the shine back on UGA’s football program!


Well as long as I am here near the coast, it is time to go peel some shrimp and then a stroll on the beach at sunset with the wife. Score some hubby points. Lord knows I can use them.

Greetings yankeedawg1. You or your sister's family are probably aware of Corky Bell's Seafood
Restaurant. Restaurant started here in my area of Merritt Island/Cocoa. I step out of bounds sometimes and jump all over a plate of "fried" seafood. Particularly the fried oysters, out of sight. If you have not been there for good cold beer and excellent seafood, recommend it highly.

Last season there was a lot of "brotherly love" coming out of Athens from the players and coaches alike. Somehow this year with the "brotherly love" speak, I tend to accept it as being real. When our QB on the defensive side makes a flat statement that there were some rebel rousers on last years team, hard not to join forces with Christian Robinson. Look, if we lost every damn game, but put forth honest effort in practice and on game day, I could live with that. (For a while) . . .

I have been snooping around the Boise State site and some of the sites and blogs coming from our first opponent. They have 8 returning starters on both the offense and defense. For a team that has done real well over the past few seasons, if I were a coach, would remind the Red and Black everyday that our opener is against a team that is "loaded". Our young folks have to know that every little mistake we make is going to cost us. Their left handed QB is way above average and the talent he is working with fits in the same category. Not to mention their head coach . . . . .

You mention the gators. This is going to be quite a year for them. Lots of changes in formations, coaches and players. Fans of the gators will not accept another year like the one UM left them with last season. It would have been worse if he had remained as head coach this year. He lost Mullen, he lost his most important cog. gator fans will not put up with Muschamp, will give him far less room to achieve because he was once a UGA man. Less than 10 wins his first year, they will want to tar and feather him.

As for CW, left New England unexpectedly, flop at ND, had problems with Kansas City. Great move Florida, WM and CW on the same staff . . . . . fireworks. CW and WM might be job hunting in the near future.

Enjoy your visit to the Sunshine State, terrific place to live and badger the hell out of the gator faithful. I confess, I am guilty, with a smile on my face.

yd1.....welcome to kentdaddy's and my neck of the woods. we have to put up with these gators every day.......use to get real old, not so much anymore, they seem scared to death of what they have or DON'T have.

Buc- wlayton.... had fun at Wally World this morning in Orange Park. Had my Nike Bulldog windshirt on standing next to a FSU guy talking about we both would enjoy Gator Tail on a stick this year. Several still upset that AM did not stay home. I asked how they will feel when it is his turn this year to sink FU.. Back to the real world on Sunday. Wish I had time to come to the car show but I am on the clock. Next visit we will have a Bulldog Party.

I have said it before here there is something different about this group we have in Athens.
Truly more than a coat of paint, I think with us being 6-7 it took it down to the metal.

Before I left Athens spoke with one of my guys and his early word on spring practice is..fast we are blinding speed on defense,year two reacting not having to think and rethink, and trust big trust in the guy playing next to you being on the same page. We realy do have a band of brothers wearing the R&B this year. Have a great weekend !
