Most folks on this board are football-heads. I approve of that, as pigskin is UGA's most popular sports export. In terms of basketball, we rarely pay attention until and unless UGA is in the NCAA tournament, unless we're playing Tech.
So anyway, as I post this, we're about an hour away from tipoff in the first round of the SEC Tournament as Georgia faces DSOR counterpart Auburn on SEC Network. After a 20-10 season featuring no bad wins, more than a few good losses, and a couple of great upsets, Georgia is firmly on the bubble for a low NCAA tourney seed. How we perform in the SEC tournament will determine whether or not we get in. We almost certainly don't have to win the thing to be in, but we will need to beat the entire state of Alabama this week to have a shot.
Personally, I think we can do it. Auburn shouldn't be as difficult this time around as they were the first; after all, we gave up a 20-point lead in order to beat them in OT. I think that we'll still carry that chip despite the win and rout Aubie today. We just played Alabama. The winner of that game is probably the last team into the NCAA tourney. They beat us by 8; I don't figure they'll do it again a week later. So yeah; I'm picking UGA to get to the semis of the SEC tournament in the Dome. Beyond that? Well, as we proved in 2008, it's always anybody's game.
