I think that I see a lot of Drew Brees style of football in AM. AM however can motor, and will. Brees is deadly accurate, and AM is no slouch. His numbers will go up this year from the experience factor alone.
AM has got to be the most excited QB in the country. Reason I say that, goes something like this . . . . AJ gone, the talent in Athens at the receiver positions makes for a great Spring practice. Young fellows busting their butts for playing time. After Spring and the beginning of Fall practice the coaches will have this pack of Dawgs in the right places. Still a few position questions to be answered, usually are until the real thing starts and a game or two played in the SEC. These players cannot take a day off, too much talent on the same practice field.
I say we are loaded and maybe even over loaded with quality folks that can catch the ball. The determining factor on playing time will probably come down to route running. That for some players is the last thing that they learn to do with confidence. Durham showed what good route running can do even if you are not the most talented receiver on the team.
King is going to turn a lot of our heads this season, knows what it will take, and who it is that he is replacing. I believe he has the "stuff" to be better than an average replacement, would bet on it . . . . if I were a betting man.
With a better running game, possibly an outstanding running game, that alone is worth a touchdown a game better than last year. This team has no reason to ever not score a TD in any game, and I mean against any college team we face. I keep my fingers crossed that the Oline gels, they do, tough team to scheme against.
Richt says that the battles on the field are going to be intense. That will be a major factor in UGA winning football games when the hitting starts this season against folks like Boise State and the SS troops. Not going to worry about bumps and bruises, comes with the territory. Play safe and you get hurt, have seen that more than once.
One more thing, looking forward to watching the other two QB's displaying their skills. Looking forward to Spring and Fall preparation, should be like none we have seen in several years.
