From Athens - Another great dull week was created by yankeedawg1
Good Morning All,
It has been another quite and sane week in Athens. Even with AM’s ankle sprain, which I must admit, gave me a mild panic attack.
I agree with those on this board that we do not need to turn our football players into bubble boys.
One issue that will get a strong look by the coaches this spring is what to do about AM’s backup. HM has skills but not at the same level as CL.
Could there be a future tandem of AM & CL much like Green and Shockley? With CL’s ability I would get him as much playing time as practical this season. It would be to our benefit going into 2012 having an experienced backup to AM. Also one who would cause defenses to adjust to a different QB. Playbook changes anyone?
With CKO on staff we can offer a recruit to play for two coaches with extensive NFL experience. Come to UGA and become the next Jay Ratliff. We will coach you up to the like level. Sweet !!!
Buc, CTG is most definitely showing his cards and influence. CMR and Mack are both listening to what direction he wants to take our defense.
I am so looking forward to having a shut down “D”.
Life in the secondary will become so much better with a big push/rush on the passer. Many a QB hurry has turned into a pick. Erk would be proud of what CTG and his staff have in mind for our defense.
IMO we will also hear from CML and his DB’s he has become the forgotten man; it is also his second year. Good things tend to happen in year two.
Hearing all this week about what is happening in the Middle East again focuses on how blessed we are to live and work here in the greatest country on God’s green earth.
Be a good time to thank a vet again, lives and blood given so we don’t have these problems in our streets. Much to give thanks for.
Have a great weekend and a safe week. As always “Go Dawgs”

Good Morning . . . .
Could not agree more that it appears Grantham is being listened to.
Don't know all of the facts but Richt spent time fishing on a cold morning in South Georgia with a "defensive recruit". On the other hand he did spend a lot of time in Columbus with a "offensive recruit". Both young men should mean a lot to UGA football soon.
Quite frankly have come to the conclusion that we all have talents in one way or the other. More and more it appears that Richt's ability to recruit is his special calling.
Would not be surprised to see Grantham's name pop up somewhere down the road for a level higher than the one he has now. So looking forward to watching a proud UGA defense again.
With you yd1 on Lakatos. We don't hear much about him, and that is a really good sign coming off of a 6-7 year. A lot of the talk has been about the talent that is in Athens, think most of us agree there is a lot of that. Lakatos, like Grantham had a year to get to know his personnel. ogredawg mentioned Ogletree #9 in another thread. Lakatos is aware of #9 and several others now. This should also be mentioned, Lakatos had to sit with Grantham and figure out or be instructed as to how Grantham's 3/4 works. Lots of different schemes whether 4/3 or 3/4. These guys will be on the same page this year. Could be fun to watch.
Have a great day . . . . Go Dawgs!!

yd1.....they already have a playbook in place for CL.......Shockley's scheme.
Great post, always refreshing to read. I always can "visualize" God's country from your Friday morning posts. GREAT way to start a weekend. I'll tip a "cool one" to you tonight.
