Good Morning All,
Two weeks have passed since signing day and the swell of satisfaction of a successful harvest of talent. Most notable the instate players that stayed home.
As many of you have said now we need to coach them up.
How much coaching up did they do at Auburn with Cam and Fairley?
Flip side was it the lack of coaching or talent that was the undoing of Bama and UF?
Did Bama’s “D” suffer from lack of Cody and others or KS hit a slump?
Was UM the same coach without Tiny Tim?
A coach can make an average player good and a good player great, however there has to be a desire and effort provided by player to improve. To a man I think will have such a team this year that is committed and has the desire to improve over the season. Taking nothing for granted or as Blair Walsh said a sense of entitlement. No question we have the talent to compete. I agree the X factor becomes coaching when you have the talent we have in Athens.
I like the chemistry of our current team and the incoming class will bring new energy and talent to the group. A big plus with our freshman class is they know each other, very low learning curve. They have played with or against one another since grade school. Now they have banded together to help put the bite back in UGA football. I sense that the upper classmen will take this group to heart and work with them to get them ready for the SEC.
CTG’s defense will be much improved no question…..year two-he will surprise a few OC’s – bank it.
Bobo will have Murray playing from day one…..with a new weapon in IC.
WF - he is a sleeper….gut feeling..his youth and energy will translate to the field and a much improved “O” line. It won’t hurt to having IC to block for.
JT – man on a mission…..clear understanding of what needs to be corrected and is working hard to get it fixed. Players moving metal gaining strength and confidence.
CMR - OK all you seasoned citizens remember the game show “To Tell The Truth”? We are looking for the real CMR after watching an impostor for the past five seasons it is past the time for the REAL – CMR to stand up. Make that coach up his staff and players. Be a leader !
We have watched many players in various sports having to start wearing glasses/contacts to improve their vision. Without a doubt since Mack and CTG have come on board CMR “vision” is improving daily.
This is my eighth spring in Athens, the first with Mack as AD.
You walk around campus and the Butts Mehre building. Mack has made a much-needed change.
Football is under the radar,no coach speak just hard work by staff and players getting ready for spring ball. I like it !! The first time we need to hear from anyone is after the USC game. CTG addressing the press on how his defense held ML under 100 yards and the total USC offense to one field goal.
This isn’t as far fetched as it once was.
Sunday has the weather at a plus 70 and sunny.Time to feel the thrill of the grill and watch some men making left turns.
We are blessed to live in a country were we don’t have tanks in the street.
