Defensive End Coach Wanted?

Defensive End Coach Wanted? was created by Buc
The site below comes from our University. Can anyone figure out what is going on here? Appears that some changes are being made that have not been announced publicly. I haven't seen them anyway, for what that is worth. Appears to me that if JJ commits to us today, he is going to have some individual coaching come Spring. Don't really know, have not a clue, but it sure is interesting. Defensive End Coach?? You guys have to have something on this.

Did McGarity (Mick) release a monster when he told Rich to coach and forget the rest? B)

UGA lost it's inside LB coach when Warren Belin left for the NFL but they are advertising for a DE coach to replace him. There have been rumors of a reorganization on the defensive side. This development confirms them.

If UGA hires a DE coach, Rodney Garner will be left with one coaching assignment - nose. Assuming Lakatos takes over special teams, Garner should have considerably more time to invest in his role as recruiting coordinator - good move.

A day after inside linebackers coach Warren Belin accepted a job with the NFL's Carolina Panthers, UGA posted an opening for an assistant coach on the university's web site.

Only it wasn't for an inside linebackers coach.

Curiously enough, UGA is now looking for a defensive ends coach, according to the job ad (www.ugajobsearch.com/applicants/jsp/shar...jsp?postingId=179566)

That would suggest some kind of defensive staff reorganization from this past season.

While Belin was responsible for inside linebackers, coordinator Todd Grantham took the outside linebackers and Rodney Garner coached all areas of the defensive line last season.

I like this. Al always heard Gardner was a great recruiter. Give the man a stud to work with and then let him focus on recruiting.

On another topic, Grantham said Georgia “obviously could go a couple different ways” in filling the defensive coaching position vacated by the departure this week of inside linebackers coach Warren Belin to the NFL’s Carolina Panthers.

“We’re basically in the process of looking at it right now,” Grantham said. “We’re going to hire the best person for Georgia and the best fit for Georgia.”

Although Belin coached inside linebackers, the job posting placed Friday on UGA’s employment website identifies the open position as a defensive-ends coach. That would seem to suggest a shuffling of defensive coaching responsibilities is at least being contemplated, but Grantham said: “I wouldn’t put any stock in that. We’re going to hire the best person for Georgia
