Buc just adding to your thread and comment

From the Athens Banner Herald 2/2/11

Marshall Morgan from Coral Springs, Fla., gave coach Mark Richt his second 2012 commitment on Monday morning.

He picked Georgia over Florida State, Florida, Virginia Tech and TCU.

“We could hear coach Richt screaming on the phone he was so excited,” said Tim Conrad, Morgan’s special teams coach at Archbishop McCarthy High School who also coaches Morgan individually.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound Morgan was 15 of 16 on field goals as a junior with a long of 53 yards. He also averaged 43.6 yards per punt.

Morgan will arrive at Georgia after Walsh, from Boca Raton, Fla., completes his Bulldogs career.

“I’ll be able to start right away,” Morgan said. “I love Georgia, the whole atmosphere. Everyone’s just good people. When I went there, I knew I fit like a glove. It was just perfect.”

Has CMR found a new voice? With the talent he has headed to Athens and being able to build the fence back around the state. Big steps in the right direction for sure.

This is just a restatement of what all of us on this board already know, come fall there will be a football team that shows up in the Georgia Dome. My money is on Big Bad Bruce and his group of new best friends.

Boise State just may have themselves a game!

Buc,
Agree kicking can be a game changing event,KO's let them start on the 20, punts inside the 10 and let them play a long field, huge boost to the "D"

Love the fact having him on board so early also, kid sounds grounded which is a big plus.

Feeling here with the old dawgs, more than window dressing going on with the football team, points mostly to new AD giving insight and expectations loud and clear. To soon but I like what I am seeing and hearing so far. Go Dawgs

Any change from some of the things we were doing is a welcomed move. I too agree that McGarity has taken hold of this football team and let it be known. Maybe this is what Richt needed, someone to shoulder up and change things. yankeedawg1, the day any of us think that we know it all is the beginning of the end.

Been around SEC football for a couple of years, one thing for sure, SEC has always been about field position. Kicking/punting as far back as I can remember has served the SEC well.

MM will spend some time with BW for sure. Walsh will be a big help to this young man, Blair is that type person.

Marshall Morgan coming on board, to me that is the same as getting an outstanding running back, defensive lineman, offensive lineman, just name the position. Kickers, really good kickers have as much or more of an effect on a football game as the above named positions. Yep, good get.

As far as Boise State, if this team comes together, BS will see a lot of speed and size. Hard combination to beat, and yes we do have a great kicker on campus, to be followed by another great one.

Buc, I haven't been on here in a while but great avatar!

I remember how excited many, including myself were when Walsh was signed thinking that he would be a game changer or winner of close games with his leg. Correct me if I'm wrong but to my knowledge Walsh has never even been in a position to potentially win a game for UGA. The closest "could have been" I can remember was Arkansas last season which ended with Bobo's brilliant 3rd down call.

Not trying to be negative, just dissappointed that Walsh hasn't be able to have been more of a factor to date.

southernlover, in agreement with you.

My biggest disappointment concerning Blair Walsh is going back to our departed coaches. They were messing with the dude, directional kicking and whatever crossed their minds. That along with some other things that stunk up the joint.

Rex Robinson called the coaching staff out in no uncertain terms. That was when some of our coaches began to wiggle in their seats.

Again, you are right. Know this, BW can flat kick and he will play in the NFL. One old farts opinion.

Also, thanks for the comment on the avatar. Sometimes in a quiet moment I close my eyes and reflect back to Sanford Stadium, railroad tracks, sunny fall days in Athens. You could hear a roar go up, and sure enough, there was Erk butting heads with Jake Scott or anyone that wanted to feel his vibe in the pre-game warmups. Erk was worth the price of admission. I love football, and damn sure loved Erk. Erk, THE JUNKYARD DAWG.

Here is hoping that some of these new recruits come to Athens, play their hearts out, get a good education and have a beautiful life.

To you I say . . . don't stay away so long. In this age of technology, one can find a place to either post or start a thread. Board needs folks like you that have opinions and are willing to butt heads like Erk did. :)

Below is a post that you made some time back that impressed me (for whatever that is worth).

Just a few comments... 4 Months, 2 Weeks ago
1) We only threw to a tight end once on Saturday. We should be using our talented TE's for shorter passes to help Murray out. Especially on the huge 3rd and 4.

2) Wild Dawg formation? WTF?? This seems to be CMB trying to keep up with the Jones' It should be deleted from the play book and never thought of again.

3) O-Line play has been horrendous. A real dissappointment and most people and analysts thought UGA would be the class of the SEC.

All in all I though we looked much better than the previous week and see real potential to turn the season around and finish with dignity.
