Picked the following up, not totally sure about some things, will post and see what others have to say.
Sturdivant announced that he is returning. First off, I am glad. Without the injuries he is worth millions today.
How tough is this guy . . . I played with a guy in high school that was a terror. Nice guy off of the field, on the field, trouble. Gerald Lavendar broke his leg on a kickoff return. Tried to come back and could never get over the injury. He healed nicely, however he never regained that same kick ass demeanor he once possessed. Seen that more than once.
Amazes me that Sturdivant came back not once but twice from very serious knee injuries.
This past year, you could see him pull up on some plays, get beat on others, but finished the year looking like he could still pound the rock. Watched Fairley eat him up in the Auburn game, but Fariley has done that to all who lined up facing him this year. Fact.
Here is my two cents worth. I would like to see Sturdivant move to guard, not as much ground to cover, less movement on the joints. Feel he would be exceptional at guard, especially with his knowledge of the college game, SEC game for sure. Also think that would move him up in the NFL draft order when the time comes and he could fulfill his dreams.
I have to believe that the NFL folks told him some of the same things that I mentioned above, need another year to see if that big body can hold up.
This could be the beginning of "repairing the offensive line".
