My thoughts about the UGA game

My thoughts about the UGA game was created by AllDawgs5
These are my thoughts for the game and from some of the comments that I have seen. I am going to point out what I think went wrong. With that being said, coaching did not lose this game. Players lost this game. Here's how:

1. Sanders Cummings tries to scoop a fumble in traffic at the UF 12 yard line. Result is that he is unsuccessful. UF recovers. I am sure the CTG has went over fumbles with the defense. Mental error by Cummings. Fall on the ball.

2. Aaron Murray fumble. Hated to see it happen, but turning the ball over inside your own territory (UF took over inside the 40) will get you beat against SEC teams. Can't tell you how many times I have heard Richt and Bobo state that Murray has to learn when to get down. Prime example. Kid played a great game, and has played great all year. Don't really know how you fault the coaches. Hate to fault Murray cause he was just battling his a## off, but sometimes just go down.

3. Aaron White. Catch the ball. Yet again, we turn the ball over and it gets returned inside our own territory. Ball went right through his hands. I am sure the guy gets quite a few passes thrown to him in a week of practice. Can't blame it on the coaches.

I have been reading a lot of post that is bashing the coaches. They have been the factor in a couple of losses, but not this one. Some of the things that I have seen so far: Ripping Bobo. UGA has more yards than any other opponent has tallied against UF. Also scored 31 pts. Not bad. Should win it for you. Also saw a comment ripping the OT calls. Get real. You can't play UF expecting to win on FG's. Thought it was a great match up and call. Murray just under threw it. On 3rd down, Murray stared down Green way to long. He is freshman and he will learn. If a LB can comes off the man he is guarding and leaves him wide open to jump another receiver, chances are the QB is staring him down. The 3rd pass was a conservative call. Slants and curls are conservative pass routes.

It is easy to blame coaching right now because, to be honest, they have not been great. However, they are not to fault in this game. They can't catch the ball, scoop the ball, and make the plays. Are guys didn't make the plays, and theirs did. End of story. They made the interception to win the game in OT, Rambo watched the ball go through his hands in the 4th.

Just my thoughts.

If you've read my posts AD5, I couldn't agree with you more. Every single word you posted is correct (FOR THIS GAME) in my opinion......spot on, good post.

Sorry guys, I gotta disagree!...Mistakes are part of football, its how you adapt and recover that makes the difference. Arron Murray's fumble was kicked from his hand as he attempted to evade a sack, something he did ALOT of because UF was bringing the house, early and often. Murray's first INT was as much Green's fault and his, the CB jumped the route, Green should have adjusted, Murray should have thrown a better pass. Murray's second INT was a tip drill. White should have caught the ball. Scoop and run versus falling on the ball,...it happened twice, same result...perhaps coaching might have been a factor afterall?!?!

What I saw was a remarkable gameplan developed by CUM and excused relatively well by UF. The first few series from either team wasn't successful, but UF was the first to develop momentum and as it grew, their players responded. The UF players were coached up and ready for a war. CUM rotated in and out of offensive game plans, used hurry up sets and managed to keep us guessing most of the first half. Likewise, they stacked the box, brought multiple blitz packages and dared AM to beat us with his arm.

On the other side I saw the same, tired gameplan carried forward, again! A first half reactionary defense that faired better after halftime adjustments. An offensive front line that started strong but finished with a whimper. Murray was unsettled for most of the first half, throwing many an errant pass, but did settle down and played quite well in the second half. Murray had numerous passes that were dropped, tipped, slipped through hands and otherwise fell incomplete, or intercepted. In my opinion, Murray had only one, terribly inept play. Uunfortunately, it was that freshman mistake that ended the game.

It's real easy to lay this one at the feet of individuals, but having the season we've had this year, and the seasons past. I am less inclined to do so. This game, IMVHO, is the culmination of what we have and will continue to have, under the present leadership. We will continue to recruit well, picking up blue chippers here and there. We may very well rise up again, ala the 2010 GameCocks, but we will continue stand in the shadow of Miles, Saban and Meyer. If that is acceptable to you, fine!...It's NOT acceptable for me!

I can not believe ya'll refuse to see that Saturday was not different than the games against USC, Ark, COL and Miss State. This team was not mentally ready us as if has not been in the other games I mentioned. The only reason we won 3 in a row is that we played no body, every team we beat has not won a game. If you want CMR to say then it show just how little you know, I will promise you, if no changes are made we will be in the same postion or worse next year. I just can;t get over just because CMR is a christan and a nice man, it does not get us nothing. Look and the 12 arrent this year, look and the arrest last year, and the year before that. Come on ya'll need to take off those glass and get in the real world if you want UGA football back on the map and not the laughing stock of the nation.

First of all, you think we played as bad against UF as we did against USC, UA, CU and MSU?? Are you kidding me??.....and you make a comment to me and AD5, "show how little you know"? I KNOW we averaged 17 points in those 4 games.......we scored 31 against UF and that should be enough to win a game. If any coach should be singled out it should be CTG not the offensive side of the ball. Plus if you read ANY of my posts, I haven't been a CMR, rose-colored glasses guy. We may need another coach, I've even named a few replacements......I'm just saying the coaches didn't lose THIS game. You may be right since you know SO much more about the game than we do. Btw.....learn how to spell, hard to follow you sometimes.

Wlayton, sorry to apply that you were the one with the rose colored glasses. I know you and Buc have been very vocal at your displeasure with CMR. I guess I just get so tired of others on here that continue to want to keep CMR and give it one more year ect. I do get carried away and I do not proof read my notes, so I do know that there are errors, but I did not know this was a spell check forum.

I did not mean to step on anyone toes and claim to be an expert, and it seems everyone else can give their opinion without being bashed. I guess I just try to write how I feel and Hope I can make others see the faults in the program.
