How does the SEC east work?

Does record within the division count first, or do all SEC games count equally and they just go by the overall SEC record regardless of how you performed within your division?

If we win out and beat the Gay and Auburn, we will have 3 SEC losses, but only 1 loss in the east.

What would South Carolina have to do then for us to win the east? If they lost to either Tennessee or Florida, but beat Arkansas, they would also have 3 SEC losses, but 2 of their losses would be to teams from the east, so we would still have a better record in the division. Would that send us to Atlanta, or would we still be considered to be tied with SC, in which case they would win the tiebreaker b/c of the head-to-head victory over us?

I'm thinking that even if we win out, we have to hope that SC loses 2 more SEC games out of UT, Arkansas, and UF. Probably not gonna happen. I think the SEC championship game will feature the Auburn/Alabama winner against the Cocks.

All SEC losses count equally. If we win out, we need SC to lose 2 more. If they only lose one more, they win the head to head tiebreaker. If they lose one, we would have to hope for another team to also have 3 losses, because the 3 way tiebreaker is different, I think if one team didn't beat the other two head to head, then they go to division losses.

That's not gonna happen because Kentucky and Tennessee already have 4 SEC losses, and if we beat Florida they will have 4 SEC losses. The only team with 3 SEC losses right now is Vandy, and South Carolina beat them so even if they win out SC still holds the tie breaker over both of us.

So yeah, looks like SC has to lose 2 more no matter what. Our best shot is to win out and hope South Carolina loses to Florida and Arkansas. I don't see them losing to Tennessee. Vanderbilt will probably beat Tennessee this year.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if it could happen with SC having 3 losses. It's definitely possible for them to lose to Arky and UF.

Considering their propensity to choke, not unthinkable.
